April 2, 2008- CTIA Wireless is meeting right now in Las Vegas and we have just received word that Nextel is back on the scene, with Sprint this time, and making big news. Apparently Sprint and Nextel have announced the release of 6 new phones. With push to talk capabilities these new phones are sure to delight Nextel fans. Not only are Sprint and Nextel working together to bring out their 6 new designs, included is a Nextel smartphone, the first one in over a year!

Push to talk will really be the seller for these new designs. It will even be launched in Sprint’s CDMA network some time during the next quarter. The most exciting new design is the yet unnamed new BlackBerry phone that will feature Wi-Fi capabilities and run on Nextel’s iDen network. Confirmation was received that the phone would be out this year, but we are not sure when or how much it will cost.

These 6 new designs featuring push to talk technology will also feature the new Qualcomm QChat. With QChat, users will be able to access one to one or group push to talk calling features. Also added, is the ability to have a single phone number rather than the previous method of one number for calling and one number for push to talk, not it is all in one! The new phones will look a little different on the home screen than Nextel customers may be used to. Rather than the previous layout, the new designs will feature Sprint icons.

The new decives are (drum roll…):
1.The Sanyo PRO-200

2. The Sanyo PRO-700 which will both feature slender flip phone designs. The PRO-700, the more rugged and a bit more durable for wear and tear version, will run about $70 with a new two year contract and a $50 rebate and the PRO-200 will be around $50 and does not come with a camera.

3.The Motorola V950 flip phone featuring a slim futuristic look

4.The Samsung Z700 basic clamshell phone

5.The Samsung Z400

6.The LG LX400

Sorry no pictures yet, but we will pictures yet and no other prices besides the Sanyo models have been announced, but we can start look for them this summer!
