HTC Droid Eris Is Now Available at Verizon Wireless

Verizon Wireless saved the best till the last. Out of the four phones (the other three are BlackBerry Curve 8530, Samsung Convoy, and LG Chocolate Touch) that VZ launched today, the best is the HTC Droid Eris full touch screen phone powered by Google’s Android operating system. The Droid Eris runs on HTC Sense user interface that allow users to create customized home screen that suit their needs. Users could customize a seven-panel wide home screen with a wide variety of widgets designed to bring the most important information to the surface.

Verizon Wireless Lands Samsung Convoy Push-to-Talk phone

Besides launching LG Chocolate Touch, and BlackBerry Curve 8530, Verizon Wireless today also unearthed the Samsung Convoy, a rugged Push-to-Talk phone that is built to meet military specifications to withstand the harshest of elements. The Samsung Convoy looks just like one of those ugly Nextel phones that are designed for on-field workers. The Convoy features a long battery life, Push to Talk capabilities that leverage Verizon Wireless’ Evolution-Data Optimized (EV-DO) Revision A (Rev. A), VZ navigator (GPS navigation), 2-MP digital camera, and stereo speaker.

BlackBerry Curve 8530 Is Now Available at Verizon Wireless

BlackBerry Curve 8530, the latest Curve-series smartphone from RIM, is now available at Verizon Wireless as well. The Verizon Wireless’s version of Curve 8530 is pretty much just like T-Mobile’s Curve 8520, except the VZ’s Curve 8530 supports its own Verizon Wireless GPS services.

Motorola Droid Could be Tethered…For A Price

Verizon Wireless spokesmen today said that the Motorola Droid phone, Motorola’s first Android-powered phone, could be tethered (means users could use the Droid phone as a wireless modem for a laptop to browse the Internet) starting in the first quarter 2010. Wait a second. Before you jump and down celebrating, there is a catch for that. There is a $15 dollars fee for this service, and you could only get up to 5GB of data per month. Verizon Wireless didn’t say what is the penalty if you use more than 5GB of data per month.

Nokia N97 Gets Software Update 2.0

Nokia today announced that Software 2.0 is now available for Nokia N97. You may download it at Software Update website (http://www.nokia.com/softwareupdate), or you may update over the air if you have data plan. The new features of the 2.0 include “flip scrolling”, shortcuts to personalized homescreen, 3-D Ovi Maps 3.0, Ovi contacts, Nokia Email, and Ovi Store. According to Nokia, the Nokia N97 is selling like hot cakes.
T-Mobile Lands Sony Ericsson Equinox

T-Mobile, the 4th largest carrier in United States, today announced the Sony Ericsson Equinox flip style phone with pulsating notifications and light effects. The effects and colors of the pulsating notifications are customizable by users to suit their needs. For example, user could use different colors / effects for different callers, and once the user had calls or missed calls, he/she would know who is calling right away. Besides that, another cool feature of the Equinox phone is its Gesture Control that allows users to control the phone using hand gesture, such as muting an incoming call or snoozing the alarm by simply sweeping a hand over the phone.

The struggling cell phone maker, Motorola, is rumored to release a hybrid GSM / CDMA android-powered phone in China. The codename of the phone is “MOTO Zeppelin”, which we doubt Motorola will use the codename as the official name of the phone. Besides having a cool name, the Zeppelin phone also has amazing features and specifications, including a 3.1-inch HVGA touch screen, 5-megapixel digital camera with LED flash, HDMI output, and Video recorder that record high-definition 720P videos. Besides that, the Zeppelin phone also has other standard smartphone features, such as GPS, Wi-Fi, Stereo Bluetooth, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
New BlackBerry Bold 9700 Is Available at AT&T

AT&T Wireless today announced the BlackBerry Bold 9700, a thinner, lighter, and more powerful smartphone than its predecessor, which is also known as BlackBerry Bold. The Bold 9700 phone has almost the same design and outlook of the old BlackBerry Bold. The new one still has the loved full QWERTY keyboard and a 2.44-inch LCD screen (unfortunately, it is not a touch screen).

RIM, the Canadian company that make BlackBerry phone, is rumored to release a watch phone called BlackBerry “InPulse”. The “InPulse” phone is not a phone to check your heartbeat, it is a watch phone with PDA functionalities, capable of checking emails, receiving calls, browsing the Internet, and read the news. The phone has an OLED display that nobody knows whether it is a touch screen or not. We kind of disbelieve that the rumor is true, but the phone world seems like want to believe that.
