Philips announces a brand new slider phone named Philips X650 in Russia and Asia. Although the X650 isn’t a phone that would shake the mobile phone industry just like what iPhone did, it has some decent features and specifications that make a competitive phone in Asia and Russia market.

It looks like Philips is getting more jealous of the success of Apple’s iPhone 3G / 3G S and Samsung’s rising market share in cell phone market. As a relatively small player in cell phone market, Philips unearthed the Philips Xenium X830, a candy-bar shaped phone with 5-megapixel digital camera. The phone supports Quad-band GSM networks, and has GPS, Wi-Fi, FM radio, MP3 music player, and Stereo Bluetooth connectivity. However, this phone is lack of 3G connectivity, making it not appealing to users who get used to the speed of 3G.

It is official that Philips Xenium X700 phone hits China and Eastern Europe market in this month. It is kind of disappointing that the X700 doesn’t features 3G connectivity. It still relies on the old-age GPRS and EDGE for data transfer. Philips claims that the X700 has about 1 month of stand-by battery life, and 7.5 hours of talk-time, surpassing almost all phones in the market. Other features of the phone include a built-in 3.2-megapixel digital camera, MP3 / Video player, FM Radio, 2.4-inch internal LCD screen, and a 2.0-inch external LCD screen.
