Verizon Finally Landed iPhone

Verizon Wireless invited journalist to iPhone launch event Tuesday in New York City, a person familiar with the matter said Friday. It is expected that Verizon Wireless will officially launch the world’s most popular smartphone in the event. To prepare for the fight, AT&T wireless today slashed the price of iPhone 3GS to $50 from $100, in order to get more customers lock into two-year contract agreements. There is now news that when the iPhone will hit the shelves of Verizon stores yet. Please stay tuned for more updates.
Samsung Continuum Will Be Released Before Thanksgiving

Verizon Wireless upcoming holiday shopping promotional ad is leaked out. From the online promotional ads (available viewing now), there is Samsung Continuum, a not yet released Android-powered Samsung Galaxy S series phone. From the picture, you can see the that Samsung Continuum has a small AMOLED display bar that displays important notification, or used as control buttons for MP3 player or any compatible software. Verizon Wireless Is Ready to Launch BlackBerry Curve 3G

Verizon Wireless, the largest mobile carrier by subscribers in US, today announced that it will launch BlackBerry Curve 3G on September 16 for merely $30 with two-year contract agreement. The GSM-version of BlackBerry Curve 3G was first launched by T-Mobile one month ago, and what Verizon Wireless customers will get is a CDMA version of BlackBerry Curve 3G.

Samsung Fascinate Is Now Available for Pre-order at Best Buy

Samsung Fascinate, an Android-powered smartphone with a 4-inch AMOLED touch screen, and a 1GHz processor, is now available for pre-order at Best Buy stores. This powerful smartphone will be running on Android OS 2.1, upgradeable to Android 2.2 Froyo in the future. Like Motorola Droid 2, the Samsung Fascinate also have ability to connect up to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices through 3G wireless hotspots. The selling price is not yet released but it is expected to be $199.99 with a new 2-yearr contract with Verizon Wireless.
Verizon Wireless Introduce XATA Turnpike’s RouteTracker Solution

Verizon Wireless and XATA Turnpike (a division of XATA Corporation) today introduced Turnpike’s RouteTracker Management Solution. How the solution works is by having XATA Turnpike’s RouteTracker device transmits Global Positioning System (GPS) and other important vehicle data to a wireless phone and sends the data back to a hosted website. Verizon Wireless customers can easily access XATA Turnpike on their Verizon Wireless handsets, providing fleet efficiencies such as Hours of Service (HOS) tracking and logging. XATA Turnpike also supports third-party applications. The XATA Turnpike subscription fees are added directly to their Verizon Wireless bills.

US Carriers Plan A Mobile Payment Venture to Challenge Visa and MasterCard

Bloomberg today reported that US Major Carriers – Verizon Wireless, AT&T and T-Mobile are planning a venture to offer a payment service based on NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, a potential technology that could challenge the credit card payment processors, such as VISA and MasterCard. According to Bloomberg, Symbian and iPhone devices will be among the first to get the NFC technology. Google’s Android, meanwhile, is still playing catch-up, and might overtake Symbian and iPhone to become the first. It remains to be seen whether the NFC payment technology would be accepted by consumers or not.

Verizon Wireless introduced another eco-friendly phone today, Samsung Intensity II, the second-generation Samsung Intensity messaging phone. What is great about this phone is its battery cover made from 35 percent post-consumer materials, which is recycled plastic extracted from water bottles or other recycled polycarbonate materials. Features and specifications wise, the Samsung Intensity II is considered an entry-level phone. It features some basic features, including a 1.3-megapixel digital camera, 2.2-inch QVGA screen (non-touch), a full QWERTY keyboard, MP3 player, a microSD memory expansion slot (supports up to 32GB), Bluetooth, VZ navigator, and Social Beat (social networking apps).
