Symbian Star Developer Awards Winners Announced.

Winners of Symbian Star Developer competition are announced today. According to Symbian, the awards are to recognize the most unique and innovative applications developed for mobile phones based on Symbian OS, as chosen by Forum Nokia, Motorola, NAVTEQ and Symbian Academy. It seems like Symbian is trying to push more developers to program appliations for Symbian operating system, afraid that Google’s Android or Apple’s iPhone OS will eat up Symbian’s marketshare.
Nokia Ports QT platform to S60 platform

The new war among high-tech companies, Mobile operating system war, is getting a lot hotter with the introduction of Google G1 phone that is powered by a promising open-source mobile operating system, Android. The world’s number 1 cellular phone maker, Nokia, is getting worried that its marker share in cellular phone market will be challenged by other mobile operating systems, should Nokia failed to improve its S60 operating system. The porting of Qt platform for S60 signals that Nokia is trying to invite more developers to program applications for S60.
China Mobile Plan to Set Up TD-LTE (Long Term Evolution) Network in 2010

Will China leapfrog US in TD-LTE technology implementation? It looks like they will. China Mobile, the world’s largest cell phone in terms of subscribers, has been jointly implementing tests with relevant operators to set up TD-SCDMA long term evolution networks in 2010, according to the telco’s technology chief.

HTC Dream Will Be Launched in October

DoCoMo Officially Launch NEC N906iu in Japan

Targetting Office Lady (OL), DoCoMo releases the NEC N906iu flip phone that looks very alike to Samsung flip phones. The N906iu features a 3.2-megapixel digital camera, built-in MP3 digital music player, microSD memory expansion slot that supports up to 2GB of memory upgrade, 1-Seg high-definition TV support, E-mail, and Full internet browsing. The N906iu is only 12.99 mm wide, a little bit over half inch, making it very easy for ladies to carry around or slide it inside a bag.
Bic Announces Disposable Mobile Phone

Believe it or not, Big, the maker of disposable pen and razor, announces Big mobile phone! Bic keeps the same orange color scheme of its first Bic phone as its razor. The Bic phone is made by Alcatel, and comes with 10 minutes worth of credit and fully charged battery. Surprisingly, the phone has FM radio tuner and supports SMS messaging. The phone is set to launch in French and its suggested retailing price is 49 Euros.
Leaked BlackBerry Thunder – The New BlackBerry PDA to Counter iPhone 3G

ASOCS MP100 MulitComms Processor Available for Mobile Devices

ASOCS has introduced a new innovation for mobile devices: a MulitComms processor. This new MP100 MultiComms processor is a single chip that would be inserted into a mobile device and would be capable of supporting several applications such as GSM, WiFi, Mobile TV, and GPS. Users would be able to access more applications with their mobile phones than they might have had access to otherwise. The combination of multiple interfaces that this combination would create would in turn allow manufacturers to reduce their manufacturing costs by half. They would also be able to reduce power consumption by up to 70%, a very important feature for many users today.
