“Cell Phones = Harmful Radiation?? You Decide.”

There have been many arguments about whether or not cell phones and cell phone radiation can have a negative effect on living human tissue. We have all heard numerous arguments both in agreement and disagreement with this idea. According to a new study, it was found that cell phone radiation did have an effect on living tissue, however it could not be stated whether or not that effect was negative or not.
During one experiment, ten volunteers were exposed to a GSM signal, which simulated cellular phone radiation, for one hour on a small area on their forearm, in the same place on all participants. After one hour, samples were taken from the participants from both the exposed area of the forearm and also from areas of their forearm that were not exposed. Analyses were run and comparisons made. It was found that of 580 proteins identified in the participants’ tissues, eight were significantly affected by the consistent radiation exposure.
One scientist argued that, even at such a low level, mobile phone radiation does have some biological effect on people, even if minimal. The goal of the present study was not to identify health effects, but to find out whether or not living tissue was affected by mobile phone radiation at all. Future studies will be more inclusive with participants numbering closer to 100 rather than 10 and is planned for initiation some time in 2009. I am sure we will all be eager to see what the findings will be.
