Verizon Wireless officially announces the launch of Chaperone, a child locator service on Monday. The Chaperone service is integrated and tied to the LG Migo cellular phone that designed for Kids. By using this service, parents can locate their children through website or directly on a compatible handset through a BREW appliation

When the Migo handset is in the process of being located, its screen glows blue and displays “locating” on the screen. Location data is not saved by Verizon Wireless and is only displayed when the parent accesses it. The pinpoint accuracy varies based on location (inside or outside) and thus the location is given within a circle of possibility shown on the map.

Features of the LG Migo cellular phone are below:

  • 4 Parent Programmable Numbers
  • Emergency key
  • No support for Voicemail, Get It Now, Web Browsing or sending and receiving text messages

The LG Migo cellular phone is a similar product to BabyMo cellular phone which is gadget for children that we have reported in March 2006. The interesting fact is the BabyMo has triggered public concerns about the health of children might be affected by radiation of BabyMo cellular phone but the LG Migo cellular phone doesn’t run into this problem.
