April 11, 2008- Have you ever taken your phone with you on a camping trip, or out on a picnic and had it loose power on you? I am sure we have all been caught in situations that do not allow us to plug our cell phones up to a power source. For that matter, there are several developing countries that do not have readily available electricity, or power that is dependable. What happens when people travel to these nations and their phones die? Now there is an answer that does not involve an outlet… solar power for cell phones! Everyone is getting involve in the effort to go green and now cell phone users can join in.
G24 Innovations is a producer of solar power sources for mobile devices. One of their products is the G24i Solar Charger Series, a family of solar chargers that can be used indoors or outdoors… anywhere there is light. These chargers are available in ½ watt and I watt versions. Another product that produces a power source for your cell phone is called G5. This device was initially developed for developing markets and appears to extend the talk time on a phone by 15 minutes after only an hour of solar charging. The G10 can actually double that time allowing users to use their mobile devices for 30 minutes after an hour of charge. Also, users will be interested and delighted to know that these products can also charge other pieces of technology such as MP3 players and digital cameras.
