Google’s Own Branded Phone, Nexus One, Goes to T-Mobile

Google Inc today announced on their blog that its own branded phone, Google Nexus One, will be available for T-Mobile customers on January, 5th 2010. The Nexus One phone is manufactured by HTC, the same Taiwanese maker that make the first Android-powered phone, HTC G1. It looks like Google is going to sell two versions of Nexus One- locked and unlocked. The locked phone, which will be available exclusively for T-Mobile will be sold at reduced price. On the other hand, the unlocked will be sold at full price, but customers are not tied to any contract.
“In the long term Google will become a seller and get commission from operators,” the source said, adding that other operators are expected to follow T-Mobile’s lead eventually and agree to Google’s terms.
Pricing is still unknown. Also, we still don’t know whether the Nexus One phone will support CDMA network or not. If it does support CDMA network, the phone is capable of running on Verizon Wireless or Sprint Nextel network.
