As we have noted in the previous post about Origami cell phone that features origami paper folding technique that allows you to fold and unfold a big screen of your cell phone, we all realize one important fact which is the 2.5″ screen on that we have for our cellular phone isn’t enough for us as we all want to have a bigger screen BUT without sacrificing a small form factor. Origami cell phone idea is great, but this idea may take years to be released into market. Instead of coming out fancy idea, Alloy studio developed an innovative prototype hand phone called the Polygon which features a dual-screen display similar to the Nintendo DS.

According to the Alloy Studio spokesmen, “The resulting concept Polygon has a familiar ‘phone’ size and form-factor, but open the flip and you will find two screens. The first screen is large and high resolution, optimised for watching television pictures. The traditional keypad is replaced by a second screen that is a tougher, lower resolution touch screen. This acts as the user interface, changing according to the context of use and allows the device to be viewed both portrait (phone, MP3 player) and landscape (TV, web browser).”

We definitely think that Alloy studio’s Polygon cell phone is a better idea than Origami cell phone for solving our current limited screen size problem as we think our current technology should be able to produce Polygon cell phone whereas there are still a lot of researches have to be done on Origami cell phone before pushing it into consumer market.
