iPhone Not Just a Phone… It’s Everything You Need
Filed under Wireless Industry News

April 7, 2008- Some phones today are getting more use as media storage devices than as actual phones. For instance, the iPhone holds so many features that many users find themselves spending more time accessing features than making calls. The numbers tell the story: in general, cell phone users use their handsets for phone calls 71% of the time, however, iPhone users use their cell phones for calls only 47% of the time. Most iPhone users spend most of their cell phone usage time accessing the internet, listening to music and etc rather than using it for a phone.
Of course, in a lot of ways this n=is not really surprising since the biggest selling point of this phone from Apple was the anticipation of iPod like capabilities. So many users were purchasing this phone to take the place of their iPod as well as having a phone option on board… just in case. With such a large screen, which is ideal for internet viewing, it is just too easy and convenient to pass up web surfing while you are out and about with this handset. Also, iPhone users emailed more than all other cell phone users combined. How could you not take advantage of all these features? If you think about it, these stats are really not that surprising because with as many features as the iPhone offers, even if all options were used equally, placing calls is only one feature, so you are surely to use it less than the others… if you are comparing total usage of other features to simply placing calls. Make sense?
