LG Shine slide phone is another LG phone with cool and sexy design after LG Chocolate phone. The metallic finished LG Shine features a 2.0-megapixel digital camera with auto flash for taking high quality pictures. Besides that, it also sports a built-in MP3 music player with not so generous 70 MB of memory space for storing songs. However, you could upgrade the LG Shine’s memory to 4 GB by adding microSD cards into its built-in microSD memory expansion slot. Another point that you should know is the sexy LG Shine phone supports the latest fast-speed 3G data access (HSDPA), allowing you to surf the Internet at close-to-broadband speed.

User Reviews

  1. Kristina Says:

LG Shine looks nice when it’s new; however, the screen will be full of scratches if you are not extremely careful. Every fingerprint stays on a screen also.

  2. emilian Says:

    mine is full of scratches,,lol

  3. Masserae Says:

For t he rpeceding reviews go to ebay and buy a screen protector. The phone is awesome. Buttons are hard to navigate if you have fat fingers, joystick hard to maneuver as well. Screen does get dirty as we know. Battery dies out form all the features running. Overall there is more good than bad.

  4. AJ Randall Says:

I have the LG Shine. Worst phone I have ever owned…. It worked great for about a month then the screen will freeze EVERY time I open it. I have to keep the phone closed, press a button, unlock it, the open the phone in order for it to not freeze right away. Texting…when you start texting the screen will not update with what you are doing. Say I want to type Hi. I would have to hit H, close the phone to see that I did hit H, open the phone, hit i, close the phone and then send. ATT has been no help either in the problem.

  5. Zach Says:

To above: that has more to do with the software on the phone, who is your carrier?

  6. J Says:

    It broke.

  7. S. McCann Says:

Well it looks good cause it tricked me. If you havent already got it then ya a diffrent one

  8. Ignat Says:

I’m unable to capture stills in LG Shine (CU720). Can anyone help me to download the s/w thru net to rectify the same!!!

  9. Mike Williams Says:

The LG Shine is the greatest phone I have EVER bought. I completely recomend it to anyone looking for a strong multimedia phone. The pictures are great, the other features are useful, and I have had no problems with the call quality. And of course, there is no beating its low price. GREAT PHONE.

  10. aaron Says:

Absolutely 100 percent, a piece of garbage. Its heavy, it freezes, the antenna is in the same place as the mic is, it drops calls even in great signal, if you do happen to leave the service area and come back in, 9 times out of ten you have to reset the phone to get it back into service, At first i thought it was just the phone i got so i called att and made them send me another one… same exact issues, if you dont have a memory card than transferring data to a pc or mac is nearly impossible. if you are using a mac and transfer any data to it and then try to access the data with the phone, it restarts. and then you cant delete the files because it restarts it as soon as you touch the file, so the only way to get rid of those files is to do the phone reset. the only thing cool about this phone is that it has the 3g and can easily be tethered to the mac or pc for use as a wireless modem/card that can be used via the bluetooth or the usb. Continuing with how crappy the phone itself is, the pictures usually come out blurry and unusable though it claims to have a 2 mp camera. Thats actually funny because if you take a full quality picture with it then check the file size its usually only about 500-900 kb which is less than 1 mega pixel, and if you do have a card and can transfer it to your computer the quality is wretched and frustrating. i actually forwent the pruchase of a new digital camera because i thought hey a 2megapixel camera phone with flash and video, awesome. it took me about 2 days to realize the horrible mistake i had made. It is just as crappy if not more than the chocolate. Any one who recomends this phone for purchase based on its multimedia features or its overall functionality, must be someone who just upgraded from a phone with 0 functions, like something from 2002. I did what i seriously recommend anyone do and by an iphone. it is the future of cell technology and has already outsold blackberry and palm combined, might has well own one now. Dont make the same mistake i did. leave the shine for the people who have no idea what a functional phone really is.

  11. aaron Says:

the phone is good to me besides the fact that u can get a fuckin ringotone for a text u have to deal with there gay ass ringtones that go u have recieved a message so thats y i keep my on vibrate the whole time they need to update that and fix it if they dont im takin this phone bak becuase who calls these day most people text and u have to deal with there gay ass ringtones thats bullshit

  12. Luther Lexington Says:

I like that it’s has a solid case, way better than most cheap phones.. it takes more of a beating than any other. but thats about it, It wont let me use a normal MP3 as a ringtone and the contact list is in the phone, not the card (CDMA network).
If Chuck Norris was a Cell Phone, He would kick the LG Shine up where the Sun don’t shine.
Would you like fries with that?

  13. Matt Says:

Mine sucks too. Drops alot of calls. Definitely scratched all up. I do like the camera.

  14. Cassie Says:

I’m having problems with my bluetooth. I just bought a brand new laptop that is bluetooth enabled and my PC can’t find the driver software on my phone. I can add and connect my phone to my PC, but that’s it. What do I do? My phone didn’t come with a CD, do I have to download the software from AT&T or the LG website? Can someone please help?

  15. Rob Says:

Phone has ben alright other than freezing up at times, and the peice that covers the battery charger insert is very difficult to get of. I broke it off as soon as i bought it.

  16. wondering reader Says:

OK. instead of all of you Stupid asses bitching about your phones. Why not go back to school and learn basoc sentence structure !

  17. Emily Says:

Um, wondering reader, why don’t you? Go back and learn BASIC sentence structure, as well as how to spell.

  18. tim Says:

this phone sucks ass I just bought it and I have 30 days to give it back.. I am going to on day 28

  19. brandon Says:

ok phone but the ringtone thing does suck realy bad. you can mail them to your self to set them to individuals though, just not all calls

  20. SAM Says:

The battery life on this phone is terrible, only 2 days at the most and thats not even using it.I also think the ringtone thing is stupid,I have tried everything and I cannot get any ringtones so I am stuck with the ones it came with. If anyone has found a solution for this please post.

  21. zay Says:

yeah I have it..Im kinda upset that you cant download free games from the internet. bu t I did figure out the ringtone thing. I just took a Mp3 that I wanted. Cut it down in a sound editing program and put in on the phone..it works perfectly too

  22. Samantha Jo Says:

I really like this phone actually. I like the style and I haven’t had any problems with scratches or what not. Fingerprints on the screen… it happens, they make screen protectors for that… plus it isn’t a touch screen so there isn’t much reason to touch the screen even if you have to open it. Anyway, the only problem I have run into is the game issue. I have no problem with ringtones or photos, it’s just games. I’m trying to figure out something with that but all of the forums I go to doesn’t seem to help. *shrugs* But, other than that I think the phone is pretty good! I haven’t experienced some of the issues from other comments such as dropping calls in great signal or terrible battery life. lol Maybe I’m just lucky. *shrugs*

  23. kevin Says:

actually u can get free games on the lg shine i just got one just go to mobilerated.com

  24. Fairchild Says:

Man, I see alot of bad reviews, but this is the best phone for the price I have ever owned. Had mine for three or four months now, I keep it in a case on my belt instead of my pocket and there are no scratches, does not drop calls always loud and clear, love the media package. again, a great phone.

  25. maizy2722 Says:

I have the LG Shine CU720. I find it’s a great phone, besides the fact that I can’t put my own ringtones on it. I am trying to convert it to a gm file but I can’t find any websites that will let me do that! Other than that and the screen which is impossible to see in the sun, I think this phone is pretty good. It does not break easily from what I can tell. I have dropped my down a flight of stairs and it still seemed to be functioning properly. I also think the camera on the front and the back is a good idea too, and most phones don’t have that!

  26. Bartol Babich Says:

Okay, so, the first phone I had was a Motorola Razr. Upgraded the Razr to a Samsung stupid piece of shit. Upgraded that to the stupid Sony Erickson slim flip shit phone. then I got a free upgrade offer from AT&T. So I was like, “Cool”! Went to the AT&T Kiosk thing at Best Buy. Saw all the free upgrades. They sucked. Except for the LG CU720 (Shine). Picked it up. Looked at it. Left with it ten minutes later. Bought a 2 Gig Micro SD card for it. If you have the Micro SD card and Audacity on your computer, you can make all the ring tones you want. Only problem with that is that the tones have to be 300KB or less. But who has 30 second ring tones these days? Camera = EPIC WIN. With the Micro SD card I can take up to 4000 photos at full quality and size. And they are definitely good quality. Size is awesome. Great video quality. Made a couple YouTube videos with this phone. Sleek design. Kind of heavy compared to some phones these days, but I like the weight of it. It makes it feel as if it was sturdy. Which it is. I also like the metal front and back panels. Helps with the sturdiness. Gets better service than any other phone I have used. The audio quality is pristine. Call quality is more than I expected. And I expected a lot. I am amazed at how awesome the video sharing function. It just blew my mind. Cool theme colors, only wish there were more choices. The only things I dislike about this phone is; You can’t make your own text message tone, it makes gay sounds when ever you do stuff like delete things, the buttons tend to be a little tricky to push, the joystick you need to get used to, and they don’t give you headphones with the damn phone. That’s it. Never had a dropped call, ever. AT&T doesn’t drop there shit. They like there customers. Verizon is always advertising about how they don’t have any “Dead Zones”. AT&T has no Dead Zones. Verizon has more Dead Zones than any other cell phone provider out there. Well, that is, except for Metro PCS. But back to the Shine. LG is the leader in appliances and I think they just won me over in the cell phone business, too. I am a true LG Shine owner. And you should be, too. Well, that’s all I have to say. The phone is one of the best non-smart phones out there. Don’t let fools try to drive you away from it, it’s worth it.

  27. miguel de hijo Says:

This phone will take a beating. I am rough on phones and this one will scratch but it does have a solid case as stated before. If your buying this to be cool you’re out of luck. Ringtones are a small problem but not unfixable. It tethers great. I don’t have a problem with battery life. This phone is outdated now but after almost a year we are happy with both of ours.

  28. u dont need to no! Says:

Can it have a cell phone cover and if yes where do i get one?

  29. Dlanie Says:

Does a usb cable or any other cable come in the box to connect it to a pc?

  30. Kayy Says:

I hate that it won’t let me set my own ringtones as a text tone!! The 10 pre-set tones are lame… so if anyone knows how to change it let me know! Thanks.

  31. Nichole Says:

I have this phone and i hate it when you want to get back to the main screen you can’t just close the phone you have to press the end button or the clear button and my phone randomly takes service away from me i can have service one minute and the next i don’t. Also my phone randomly goes off by itself. I really hate this phone

  32. Riff Says:

I *was* about ready to switch providers because of this POS phone. Not only does it turn itself off randomly (and has since the day I purchased it, new), but the battery life is absolutely horrid as others have mentioned. I hardly use my phone at all all day and I have to charge it every single night. Mine will have 3/4 of a charge, I make one 2 minute call, and the low battery life starts to flash.

However, the worst part is that it drops my calls constantly. And by constantly, I mean I am lucky to talk for two minutes without losing the call. One morning I tried to talk to my Mom on the way to work. It’s a 9 minute drive. We got dropped a total of 17 times. Seriously.

Of course, that’s when I can actually make (or receive!) a call. I am constantly getting voice mails without having missed a call, and having people tell me that they called me 4 or 5 times and it went straight to voice mail each time, or rang several times and then went to dead air.

When I try to make a call, my phone shows that it’s calling but it never rings, even when I have a full 5 bars of service. Sometimes it will do this for 3 or 4 minutes before it says “call end” and other times it tries for a few seconds before saying “temporary network failure” or “no circuit channels available.”

When I go through a dead zone, I have to turn my phone off and back on in order for it to get service again. Sometimes I have to do this several times in a row. I obviously thought this was all AT&T’s issue, especially since I live in a somewhat rural area and 3G is not available here yet. However, I’ve always had Cingular/AT&T with no real problems in the past, so I decided to try something. I had an old Sony flip phone I purchased 3 years ago and I put my SIM card in that phone. So far, so good. No dropped calls, no voice mails without missing a call, etc. Obviously I have to conclude therefore that it is this piece of shit hunk of junk LG shine that I got myself into a new contract for. I can’t wait until that contract is up and I can try a better phone without having to pay a ton for it.

  33. Kenny K Says:

I think that the LG shine is the biggest piece of crap phone ever. I can have 5 bars and still can’t call out. Basically i have to power off then power on to make a call at times which has become really annoying. There is absolutely no excuse in this day as to why LG who is a top maker in electronics can noy get their phones to function properly.. I am on the verge of slamming mine against the concrete and getting a different one as i purchased the insurance through Best Buy. Piece of crap
