The LG Voyager, also known as LG VX 1000, is the successor of the popular messaging device, the LG enV VX9900. LG adds a big (2.81-inch) touch-screen sensitive LCD screen together with the LG PRADA Touchscreen technology on the Voyager phone, aiming to challenge Apple’s iPhone. The stylish looking Voyager phone has all multimedia features that you can think of; a 2.0-Megapixel digital camera with auto-focus and 2.5x digital zoom, Music player that plays MP3, WMA and unprotected AAC files, Video streaming support (MediaFlo for Verizon VCast MobileTV service), Video Player, Full Internet Browsing support, Stereo speakers, and the most notably built-in GPS navigation system. The LG Voyager is definitely a good alternative for the expensive iPhone.

If you are wondering about the voyager i have some news for you,
the lg voyagervx1000 is verizons first toutch screen phone. it is known as the “big brother” of the lg enV wich had a very similar layout.
the voyager is more than just a phone, this small device is also a digital camera,MP3 player, a computer, and a video camera all in one. the camera is 2 magapixels, and you can set the brightness, add fun frames and graphics, you can even warp your pictures. the voyager can record for a long amount of time, and has a 2.5X digital zoom.
the phone is rather small, it is about 2 inches wide and 4.5 inches tall. pretty small for a phone packet with A LOT of features right?
what will really attract younger purchasers is the full qwerty keyboard(sam layout as the enV) this allows you to text message at a fast pace. many people the already have the enV will most likley upgrade to the voyager.
the voyager will be coming out in stores on wednesday, november 21st. it is available for pre-order RIGHT NOW on various websites. the best wesite to order your phone on is verizonwireless.com. the phone wil ARRIVE on your doorstep on the 21st. pretty cool right?
the voyager is very easy to use, you can simply toutch anywhere on the screen and get to a shortcut menue. on this menue, you can go right to sending a text message, taking a picture, looking at your pictures, going on the internet, watching tv,or listen to music(all the main features of the phone)

Well if you want a review that is gonna help you make a decision on whether or not you want it, take one from someone who owns one! I do, and i must say that it is by far the best phone i have ever touched! By far better than the iPhone without a doubt! the touch screen on the outside is a real cool addition aside from the qwerty keyboard on the inside. the phone itself feels great in the hand, and is comfortable to hold. You don’t feel wierd talking on it and people are always gonna notice it, because it is the only phone that is black that opens like the en-v. it’s slim as heck which makes it easier to fit into pockets if you need to but also there is a case that is available which i purchased and is working out great. the phone is sleek and pretty nifty. the other review gives the specs so i’m saying if you want it, don’t wait. i was one of 20 people in my city of 200,000+ to own one on the first day! I was up at 7 to be at the store by 9:45 when it opened at 10 and i got the last one! but if you really want a phone that impresses people as well as it works, or performs, get the voyager….hey, it’s backed by americas #1 wireless provider….it’s the network…heehee!

  3. Tom mcginnis Says:

I have read many reviews of this phone, and after buying it, I can say they are all wrong.
At least about the voyagers “problems”
The only thing that is wrong, well missing, is no flash. But i have a digital camera anyway, so…

I LOVE this phone. By far the nicest phone I have ever owned. Not quite as nice as a Iphone, but really really close.
10 out of 10 from me

  4. Lisa Says:

I just got this phone today. It is awsome I am still trying to figure everything out cause it does so much. I am glad I purchsed it.

  5. Brandi McGuire Says:

I own this phone and I absolutely love it!! The only downside that I have found so far is that the battery life has not lasted me more than a day, but that is mostly because I am on it all of the time. It’s the best phone I have ever owned. I previously owned the Cingular 8125 and the Voyager blows it out of the water. I definitely recommend it!

  6. Jitters Says:

I have had this phone for over 2 months now… its effing perfect

  7. Sapphire Says:

Hey. I have 2 of those phones. One is mine and one is my dad’s. We got them from this guy in Washington D.C near a Burberry Gragrance store. We got them for only $99 (each). They look excellent to show-off. Everyone wants one. I thought it was $10,000 at firt but when i bought the phones with my allowance, it was only $200 in total for the two ohones.

  8. MAJORGHN Says:

None of you owners say anything about the browsing speed?? I don’ think this phone is on verizon’s high speed network is it? What is the download speed per second? Also, what about the applications that come with it and that is available (3rd party software) for it? Thanks.

  9. Fazz Says:

As a phone the Voyager is clumsy. When you start the phone it immediately ask you un-lock it. Then you have to hit the keypad icon, then dial your number and then it goes into “lock” mode. If you enter a service center cue, like Verizon, you have to unlock the phone, THEN hit the keypad icon. By this time you’ll be in an accident. This LOCKING is a killer for anyone who expects to not to be totally still when using this iPhone wanna be. The touch screen has delays in reaction too.

  10. Paul Talley Says:

I bought one for my wife and myself and they are great. I wish I could use some smart phone features like word and excel. I hope lg offeres aftermarket software.
    good luck

  11. :) Says:

you can change it so that it does not lock atomatically..just thougt id let you know :)

  12. Karen Says:

Bought the phone and really like it, although I am still going through all the functions at present. The only thing missing, is the ability to use your MP3’s and set them as your ringtone.

  13. Julius Says:

how do you stop the front screen from locking

  14. yce Says:

Here’s how to keep the screen from locking:

    A)MENU
    B)SETTING AND TOOLS
    C)TOUCH SETTINGS
    D)AUTO LOCK
    E)OFF

If you want to lock the screen again, when you put away your phone in your pocket or purse, just use the unlock key on the left side of the phone by moving the slide down

  15. Ed Says:

I have the phone for 3 weeks and i love it. Wish I could make my own ringtones. if anyone has any ideas let us all know.

  16. Amanda David Says:

OMG! I love this phone, but I gotta know:
Are you getting a good phone for this price? I mean, I ‘ve talked to people who say tht it’s a crappy piece od crap and have already gone through two of them, then got a chocolate.
    Is that true??
I want one of these phones, so I need to know before I buy one…

  17. Devin Says:

Make a sound from the computer out of a song and save it to the phone as a sound then send it to yourself and save it as a ringtone

  18. Adrian Says:

Wow… My wife and I love our new phones ! She keeps in touch with our sons thru text messaging and I love browsing the web on it. The vz Navigator has been very helpful already, too. I just wish there was some aftermarket software to download, such as an address book. I wouldn’t mind some Office tools too.

  19. chris Says:

this phone is awesome… nothing wrong, and great navigation, i recomend this phone to anyone
i wish we could unlock this phone somehow

  20. LOLI Says:

I can’t download skype to my voyager..what can I do??.

  21. David Says:

I have had my Voyager for a month now and LOVE IT!!
My only complain is the front display does not have a touch-qwerty option - if you want to text from the touch screen your only option is old fashioned nine key.
What makes this more frustrating is… the screen DOES convert to full qwerty touch screen when using V-Cast services, or browsing - I think a software re-write should be looked into…

  22. Lori Says:

I received my Voyager on Friday and did not release it from my hands all weekend. I am very pleased with it. I LOVE the screen size and clarity. I have a small issue with the “lock” feature, but that can be changed. I said I would never pay this much for a cell phone, but with all the features it comes with are awesome and worth it. I wanted the I-phone and was waiting for Apple to partner with Verizon Wireless…glad they didn’t now.

  23. Memphis is #1 Says:

The Voyager is a great phone!!!! The only thing I have a problem with is that it doesn’t allow you to use You Tube or any other websites that have streaming vidoes.

  24. Loborebo Says:

Hey guys, I want one too, where can I get the best , cheapest Deal? What will it cost to run it monthly?
    Thanks

  26. jimmy Says:

does this phone works in Belgium? cause my family lives there.

  27. OL Says:

would not get it - i owe one, except the touchscreen feature, does not offer any unique functionalities compared to other cheaper phones out there

  28. SOME kid Says:

    i think i really like this phone…

i currently have the motorola rizr and ive had it for almost 2 years now..i think this is a really cool phone…how much is it? i bought this phone for 275 euro…so like 360 dollars…

i also currently live in belgium and i was wondering if a sim card would work in it…

  29. Love it. Buy it don't get the iphone Says:

I love everything about this phone. I have it and use all the features. The touch screen is amazing. The screen vibrates when you touch the soft buttons on the screen. The bluetooth is great. I transfer videos using the bluetooth on my Imac and put videos and picture, web links and e-mail on it. I bought a 6 GB micro SD card on Amazon for 45 dollars. I use the TV function to watch TV shows. The GPS is amazing and is similar to the Tom Tom GPS system. You do have to pay Verizon $ 10 a month for the VZ Navigator feature. The GPS Talks over your blue tooth headset and sys the street name and the turn by turn directions are great. II love it. The VZ navigator also has a built in Yellow-pages feature to look up places to eat or entertainment in the area your in. It use the the EVDO network on verizon to go to the browser and look up addresses of businesses in the area. It can replace you Ipod because the phone can support an 8 GB SD micro card. The HTML browser rocks and make uses the web on your phone for mobile phone. I think the keyboard is nice and well lit. After Rebates and stuff like promos and 2 year contracts. verizon has done a great job with the 3 G networks and phone features. Sure make life a bit easier, Has great talk time the battery is good and last all day of use.
Drawback. My parents and I share 1400 Min and I have on my phone. a web browser with unlimited data. Unlimited text Mobile Tv show and videos. GPS navigation system with built in Verizon yellow-pages. 6 GB MP3 player. Video and picture 2 MP camera. Touch screen and big keyboard. Bluetooth and USB cable file transfers. We pay $ 150 a month but we have 3 cell phones so it is reasonable.
The sound quality is amazingly clear but I bluetooth headset is said to have a slight echo but its not that big of a deal. but speakers that are built in a powerful and clear. No bass but it still sounds good. you do need to get a headphone adapter to convert the jack format 2.5 mm to a 3.5m standard headphone jack and pin size. Radio-shack has them for $ 8.
Hope this helps. I say get it is you can afford it or are thinking about getting the iPhone.

Overall the Technology in this phone is Amazing and if you have about I would say total with tax and after rebates and upgrades including car,car charger, screen protectors, and nice sleek case $ 425, and for 3 phone with the ultimate everything package with warranty I pay $ 150 a month. I f you are lucky enough to have a job. Do it.

Something that many people do not consider when dropping the $200+ we pay on the average for a new phone that is considered to be of good quality is the bang for the buck, i.e. how much better than my old phone is this new one? When I initially went to upgrade I purchased a Samsung Flipshot, thinking it would be interesting to have a good quality camera on my phone. At the same time a little voice in my head was asking me why I paid $200 (new every two credit dropped the price from $249) for another camera phone that was not really that much different than the phone I already had. I received the FlipShot, used it for exactly one day, and realized that my $200 had really not changed my mobile communications experience at all. In fact I returned it because I felt somewhat cheated-spend $200 on a brand new phone and you get the same junk you had before. The phone was also very poorly designed and felt cheap and easily breakable. The same usual story.

NOT with this phone. I returned the FlipShot and picked up a Voyager figuring the extra $50 (I had a new every two credit) would be worth it for a bit of a different type of phone.

WOW. No, I don’t work for Verizon. But this phone is insane. I have had it for two days and everything you could possibly want a gadget OR phone to have this phone has. The web browser works well as long as you configure it properly (just like an IPhone’s minus the two-fingers together zoom in and out function), the interface is pretty customizable (finally-different fonts that actually look different) both screens are of excellent quality and images and web browsing look great (very high resolution screen) and the operating system makes sense. After about twenty minutes of familiarizing myself with the system and using the MicroSD to dump images from my computer, I had the operating system adjusted to look like some insane virtual circuity portal, complete with sci-fi font.

Before owning this phone I thought it was pointless to have a full set of keys to text message. Wow. I was wrong. A few hours into playing with it I found the mobile email function-something I had always thought would be useless-and linked it to my Yahoo mail. An hour or so later when my phone rang I thought it was someone texting. No, I had just gotten an email, and then proceeded to read it right on the phone in three taps of the screen and respond by flipping the phone open and typing out a regular email. Sending the reply was easy. Yes, I realize Blackberries have done this for a while now, but having a mobile email inbox that just feels so easy makes it worth using-forget that ridiculous thumb-orb pseudo-mouse on a Blackberry, the touch screen makes everything feel intuitive.

All of the little extra touches you would expect when thrashing down a large amount of money are here. My girlfriend called me to ask me to buy some things at the store. Usually this would involve me writing them down (and I’ll lose the list), trying to remember them (yeah right), or writing them down and then laboriously punching them in on my previous phone with the 123456789 keys. Also having to go through four submenus to get to the Notepad file when I’m in the supermarket.

NOPE! Right in the middle of my call I flipped the phone open and, as I continued to talk and typed out my list on a Notepad file, I got everything in the phone and saved the Notepad file while still talking. Flipping the phone shut, I finished my conversation. Arriving at the store, all I had to do was tap the screen 3 times in quick succession and BOOM, notepad file was on the screen easily. These are the kinds of little advancements that make it WORTH buying a new phone.

The phone looks slick as well, in that Techno-Evil sense. I suggest you buy also (again, I don’t work for these people) the clear plastic shellcase for an extra 12 bucks or so. If you want your phone to look like a prop from I-Robot, that is. (Yes, it looks seriously dope).

I thought the Navigator program was stupid until I tried using it. Maybe it’s because I’ve never used a GPS device before, but being able to ask my phone to locate me and within seconds I know exactly where I am on a zoomable mapset is really awesome. For someone like me who stays off the freeways unless I am going to and from work, this will decimate the amount of time I used to spend trying to use MapQuest Mobile and write things down, or printing out sheets and sheets of directions at home. Now all I have to do is punch in an address and it literally directs me the whole way, like….well, like a navigator!

In conclusion I will say that I have owned a cellphone for about four years now. I have always since I was a kid wanted one device that did absolutely everything you could possibly want from that device-a mobile communications center capable of accessing any information you could possibly need, a phone with clean reception and easy interface, something that satisfies that howling sense of techno-lust all true gadget-fiends have.

    THIS PHONE IS THAT DEVICE.

I was looking into getting one of these, but I would be required to upgrade my plan (which isn’t offered anymore - I’ve just had it forever). That alone would increase my monthly bill by $50. Upon reading further, Verizon is charging $2 per mb when you’re surfing. In the last month on my work iPhone, I’ve recieved 191 mb and sent 34mb. That would be an additional $450 in “hidden” cost!! I think I’ll save more money with the iPhone. Has anyone received charges higher than they were expecting for usage?

  32. Stephanie Says:

Does Verizon charge you for the mp3 player?

  33. vzw hacker Says:

you know there are plenty of websites to make your voyager like the iphone and get youtube for free

  34. ftking Says:

I have been using my Voyager for about 2 wks now. I use Bitpim to bu the phones information. For the most part I like the phone having previously used the LG9800 “V”. The challenge is linking the calendar, tasks, and notes. I believe this is a Verizon issue, more than LG. Also I went to the Verizon store and asked them to add the “notes” feature to the short cut menu, they could not. Also when you use the broser function they have a set Verizon menu. The service they use for reporting weather “WeatherBug” is flacky, in that one day it works and the next it doesn’t. I would love to be able to change the Browser page so I would not need to go to the favorite function and then do all the clicks. The other issue is that the ringer volune is the same as the speaker volume. On the V phone they were independent of each other. I like keeping the phone on vibrate but when I receive a call I have to turn up the volume which then takes it off vibrate. This is a LG issue and not a Verizon modification.

I have compared this phone side by side to the previous version of IPhone and the Verizon system is slower.
