The LG VX8350 is the successor of the LG VX8300 flip phone, one of the best selling flip phones for Verizon Wireless. The LG VX8350 isn’t the sleekest phone in the market, however, it does have decent features and specifications. Comes built-in 1.3-MP digital, Mp3 player, Bluetooth support and microSD expansion slot, the LG VX8350 not only fulfill users’ needs for making and receiving calls, but also does provide some entertainment for users like listening to music and snapping pictures of your friends.
Besides that, the LG VX8350 also supports Verizon Navigator GPS system, which means you don’t have to carry standalone GPS system with you anymore.

Good phone. Feels good in my hand, better then the rectangle phones. Good web access. Clear calls and good connection in Idaho. Would like to see higher resoultion and 1/4 inch thinner and keep the same shape. I’d recommend this phone.
Nice size and nice features. Clear calls with good reception. Easy to use.
don’t buy this phone if you want to sync your contacts and calendar with your pc. the software is not available. although not as important, this phone also does not have a flash or radio.
Font size too small in text messaging…can’t seem to change it permanently…only drawback i see so far
Nice phone. Can’t say anything negative about it…Great reception, features, user-friendly, etc. Looks-wise though, it’s kinda blah. Needs a different color on the outside shell, like a maroon, or navy. That’s about it. I think that the entry-level (ahem, cheap) outside appearance will sway many away from this otherwise terrific phone, unfortunately.
No problem with reception. I like the look and feel. However, a couple of flaws that I have not been able to figure out. Unable to change the font size when I dial. The two choices are Normal and Large. When normal is chosen the font is still large. Also, the front screen dims and does not shut off when plugged in. Haven’t been able to have success downloading ringtones via the data cable. Can you do it with bluetooth?
Nice phone; but it is annoying that it is not possible to sync contacts & calendar. That feature is apparently locked out. Showstopper for me.
As Kevin said it, I am unable to change the display font which is too big and is annoying. Has anyone here done that ?
Just recently purchased the LG 8350 with the understanding that the phone could be tethered as a wireless modem. To date, I’ve tried the 8300 and 8500 drivers with no success and am about ready to exchange the 8350 for the older 8300. Any thoughts?
I have a nonfunctioning VX8100 with many accesories including data cable, chargers, extra batteries.
Are they compatible with the VX 8350
To anyone who is trying to back up their contacts and such. Try using BitPim. I do not have the phone yet (but I will on Tuesday) so I’m not 100% sure if it works. But I’ll try when I get it, and let you know how it goes. Or just try for yourself.
Locked, can read call history from phone with BitPim but can write my contacts, verizon SUCKS!
Darn phone was locked by Verizon!!!!!!! Time to sue the greedy monopolistic cell companies that think they have a right to lock features from a product you own. I purchased the phone, it is my property, and therefore I can do to it anything I want. Accessing features originally made for the phone is in no way a violation of the law.
just select the phone manually as an 8550 and it works fine, and make sure you have the latest version of bitpim… 1.02
You da Man John…….i have been messing with my 8350 and bitpim fro 2 days….THANKS!!!!!!!
To Mark the Lark. You may own the PHONE, but Verizon owns the SERVICE. It is just like your home phone. You pay the phone company for your service. You may own your home phone, but unless you pay for extra features like call waiting, caller I.D., etc., you will NOT be able to access those features.
Very frustrated that, using bluetooth, this phone has mySounds, myPictures, myVideos folders but I cant download mp3’s to a folder where music is accessible for playback by the phone when the phone is closed. The mySounds folder appears to have draconian size limits and does not allow music playback using the external music playback controls.
I pay big bucks for four phones and Verizon returns the favor by shackling my phone to mandatory Verizon supplied replacement software poorly implemented by Verizon contracted saboteurs.
they need to make a pink one
what the f? I bought a flash card, put some MP3 and WMA files and I can’t play them. The phone is sold as an MP3 player. I have to buy the music to play it?
I agree with Mark the Lark. It’s your phone, you paid for it, so you should be allowed to use all available features. By the way Sharon K, I dont think Mark was talking about those features. I believe he is talking about backing up his phone book, accessing pictures, adding ring tones and music, modifying the visual appearance of the phone. All things Cingular lets its customers do for free while greedy verizon charges us. I personally like to use my own WAP gateway for internet access instead of paying verizon for it and that’s perfectly legal by the way, it’s just that verizon makes it hard for you to do it because they’re greedy.
Public displays of ignorance should be a crime.
I purchased the vx8350 about a week ago. Here’s my take thus far. This is the first new phone I’ve bought in about 4 years. I’ve been using my LG3200 & comparing the 8350 to the 3200 this is what I think. First the 8350 is much more difficult to open, especially with one hand. The grooves dont allow for a quick open. Second, while the larger screen is nice, the size of the numbers is a little absurd, they are way to large for my liking & that doesnt allow for too much privacy, especially when punching in your voicemail pswd. Third, the number keypad uses white lights compared to the blue on the 3200. The blue lighted keypad in my opinion is much easier to see. Fourth, the position of the charger port is kind of a hassle. You have to remove that little rubber piece, but when you buy the phone, it’s recommended you keep that little piece to prevent dust/dirt from getting inside the phone. That piece is so small, it’ll be lost in a day. On the 3200, the charged plugs right into the side, no fuss. The 3200 also has a removable rubber piece (for a car charger). Fifth, the 3200 has about 35+ ring options from holiday tunes to a latin beat. The 8350 only has about 15+ & there’s not much variety. Sixth, surprisingly, the battery life on my 3200 is out performing the 8350. Very disappointed in that. Bottom line is this: I’m not sure yet whether I’ll wind up keeping the 8350. From a person who has had the same 3200 phone for a few years, I thought upgrading to the 8350 would be alot more sexy than it has turned out to be. I’m not that impressed & if my 3200 was still working perfectly after I dropped it in water, I’d probably still be using it.
To JImbo and others,
To get music on your phone (without paying Verizon) there are a few steps to make it work. First if you buy a micro SD card, insert it into the phone and format it using the phone. Go to Settings and Tools, Memory, Card Memory, Options, Format.
Second, it creates a folder my_music, put your mp3’s in there. it will not recognize any kind of sub-directeries that media player writes to the card. You must copy these files yourself.
I have a usb/micro sd card reader that I put the sd card into and then into the usb port on my computer. I just use explorer to copy the files onto the sd card, then put the card into my phone. it will automatically add the songs to the library when you start the music app.
Just note….I noticed that if the filenames are too long it won’t recognize them on the MicroSD card
JImbo – I have this phone and sorted out that in order to copy files (MP3) to the Micro SD card, you need to do TWO things.
1. Make sure the files are in a “MY MUSIC” folder
2. Have the files indexed by Windows Media Player while on the PC.
To ‘adam’, your review seems to indicate that you might want to try and find a used-3200 somewhere; the 8350 is not for you (with so many complaints about it)… As to what ‘Steve’ says, the Verizon.com site has a very good searchable FAQ section that will answer pretty much any question you have about getting music (etc.) to play on the phone. I have old .mp3 files that I was able to convert using the documented process and using the “Music Essentials” kit, I rated the mp3 quality as fairly good on the LGVX83.. model phones. – As far as those not so enthused about the fonts on the 8350, is there any reason you didn’t stop at the local Verizon store before buying the phone since they usually have the test models on display available for customers to play with so they know what they’re going to get.
.
“Public displays of ignorance should be a crime. “
does anyone know if there is anyway to change the size of the font when you are reading a text message on the front screen? its just tough to read when its that big
Anyone else having problems with the camera? Trying to figure out if it’s the individual phone, and I should just get another one of the same, or if it’s the model, and I should find a new phone.
The latest version of bitpim (1.0.3) now includes support for VX8350. It seems to work ok for calendar management so far. I haven’t tried to sync contacts yet.
But I had previously uploaded an mp3 file via the micro SD card — SETTINGS&TOOLS>MEMORY>CARD MEMORY>MOVE>MY MUSIC. The filename was 64 characters and included spaces. The phone recognized the file and allowed me to move the file to phone memory. However when I tried to access it with the music player, the mp3 did not show up in the library. I erased the file using SETTINGS&TOOLS>MEMORY>PHONE MEMORY>MY MUSIC>OPTIONS>ERASE. The phone reported that the file had been successfully erased and it no longer appears in the memory. However now when I try to use bitpim to download anything from the phone, I get a BrewFile exception error (no 1) listing this file that is supposed to be erased.
I have since uploaded other mp3 files via the microSD card to ‘My Music’, but in each case prior to uploading I renamed the files using filenames less than 10 char each and I removed any non-text characters (including the spaces.) I have no problems finding these files in the music player, and they cause no errors when using bitpim.
TO SHARIN K: You are right that Verizon owns “a service” – THEIR SERVICE. But Mark the Lark has reasonable complaint. He is not asking to use Verizon’s service without paying. He’s objecting to Verizon locking him out of being able to access information that he owns on a phone that he owns. Verizon is trying to make their service the only choice to access this information and monopolize the ability to access the guts of the phone using their service by locking out access via other networks that they do not own. Monopolies are wrong. For subscribers who have money to burn, and unable to figure out the technology, lazy (whatever the reason) the Verizon “service” (file transfers via their network) may make sense and have value to them. But Verizon should be careful. They should seek to be competitive by adding value, not subtracting value. This opens the door to competitors like ATT to take away business. I was happy with Verizon Wireless until I recently upgraded my phone and signed a new contract. With my old VZW phone I was able to sync ringtones and the calendar, no problem. But Verizon has gone down a new path in recent years, it is doing what it can to deny it’s subscribers this capability. When my two year contract is up, I will certainly be looking at alternatives.
I can’t set my .mp3 as a ringtone. I own the entire song, but I have to pay to download a ringtone of the same song? Maybe I’m just doing something wrong, any suggestions?
yea i have it i hate it
voyager is soo much beter i cant wait till i get it
There is some software you can find (try and search mp3 splitter and you can find something). Then you can basically select a small part of a song to use. If you have a microSD card, put the clip under my_sounds and then you can send it in a pic message to yourself and save as ringtone. I have gotten 20+ ringtones with this method. There is also some way to email them to your phone, but I have never tried that.
After finally finding the drivers for this phone (I refuse to install Verizon’s software, because it requires WMP 11, which I don’t want to pollute my system with), I am using bitpim 1.0.4 to successfully access the phone. I’m able to backup and restore contacts, calendar, etc. with no trouble at all. However, I transferred a .mp3 file to the Music folder on the phone (NOT on an SD card), but I cannot get the Vcast music player to recognize that it exists. Anyone else have this problem? Perhaps I need to shorten the filename to 10 character as Rob O suggested…
To Steve or anyone else who knows. I went to format my phone SD card like you said and I get to the format menu press ok and it says “lock code???” what is the lock code? I’ll be damned if I buy a mps phone and then pay Verizon 30 bucks for their music essentials scam kit. You shouldn’t have to pay to put music on an mp3 player u already own… So I’m trying to do that. Anyone who can help, I’d appreciate it.
I must be (am) an ignorant ass, can anyone give me a step by step model to follow for placing music on the micro card that will actually work? I just purchased a card , so from the top please thanks
to greg the “lock code” is the last four digits of your phone number.
I loaded some WMV files into the “my flix” and the “media” folders on my microSD card via my USB microSD reader. I put the microSD card into the phone and tried to access the videos in “My Videos” and i get the “NO CONTENT SAVED” message. Do i have to convert the files in MP4 or something else to get the phone to play videos??
i used the phone Memory/Options/Format/entered the last 4 digits of phone for lock code/yes to format card. Then put the card in a card reader hooked it up to my mac, copied an mp3 file into ‘my music’ folder and it played fine on the phone. I had earlier copied a song with a long name tag and it didnt work-i shortened the tag, got rid of all spaces and re-copied it-worked fine.
How to get your VX8350 to recognize and play your .mp3 files:
1) Buy a microSD memory card and an interface cable/adaptor to connect it to your computer.
Shorten the filename portion of each of your .mp3’s to no more than 40 characters. The resulting names don’t matter. The phone will automatically shorten these to 32 characters when it sees them. One tool to help you do this is “1-4a Rename”.
2) Plug the card into your phone and power it up.
3) Go to Settings & Tools…Memory…Card Memory…Options…Format in order to format the memory card.
4) Remove the card from your phone and connect it to your computer.
5) Select some of your .mp3 files that you’d like to play on your phone, and make a copy of them to a working directory on your computer. (This will prevent you from messing up your existing ID3 tags)
6) Get a good ID3 tag editor (like Mp3 Tag Tools) and remove ALL ID3 tags from each of your .mp3’s EXCEPT for the ID3v1.1 tags. Ensure that your track numbers contain NO leading zeros, e.g., just use 1, 2, 3, etc. If you don’t put in track numbers, or if you include leading zeros (like 01, 02, 03, etc.) the phone will not list your tracks in proper order.
7) Once you have the ID3v1.1 tags in place, clone them directly to ID3v2.x tags in each file. This is why you need a good tag editor like Mp3 Tag Tools. The VX8350 takes some info from the ID3v1.1 tags, and some from the ID3v2.x tags. Go figure…
9) Copy the resulting .mp3’s to the my_music folder on the microSD card.
10) Insert the card back into your phone.
11) Go to Music & Tones…My Music…Songs…Options…Reinitialize library database. This important step will cause the phone to re-detect the music on your microSD card and add it to it’s internal library. Any time you change any .mp3’s on your microsSD card, you will need to re-perform this step.
You should now be able to see your shiny new .mp3’s in your Music Library and play them at will. You did all this without paying your cellphone provider a cent, and you didn’t even have to buy a special data cable for your phone!
Does this phone’s MP3 player support audio books, such as the ones you can download from the public library? Has anyone tried to listen to an audio book on it?
BitPim is great! Works like a champ with my new LG 8350 phone. Was able to upload images to my wallpapers, upload mp3 files and midi files to ringtones – BitPim had to modify the .mp3 file though. I am very pleased!!!
First of all, can anyone tell me where to find BitPim, and the driver for the data cable for this VX8350 phone? I bought a cable, but the driver didn’t come with it. I can’t find it anywhere – even after following the links and directions that came with the cable.
Second, I bought 4 of this model phone about six weeks ago. Overall, we like them a lot. Reception is very good, and we like its look. It has a lot of great features that we all are enjoying. Its shape does make it a little awkward to open, but that’s not a major issue with us. The only thing that bugs me is that the outside buttons push TOO easily. My son wears his on his belt, and if he bends over, his music launches – not always at a convenient time or place! For myself, I find that if I wear it on my belt and happen to lean against something, the camera activates and takes pictures of whatever is at belt level. This happens so frequently that after only six weeks my side camera button has stopped working consistently. I need to get the thing repaired, or the phone swapped out for a new one. Very annoying. My old camera phone (VX5200) had its side camera button in the same place, and I never experienced that problem.
As far as intentional picture taking, all four of our phones take good ones, but for some reason they “zoom out” just as the shutter clicks. I can frame a tight close up, only to have a distant shot when I save it. Is there an adjustment for this??
It sounds like some people are having success with BitPim and some are not. So I am going to ask a repetitive question.
Is it possible to download ringtones onto a Verizon “Locked” LG VX8350 using Bit Pim?
If so, can someone give me a step by step?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
how do you change it permanently to T9 font in the text messaging section? if someone could message me back asap that would be greatly appreciated.
yes it’s possible, the mp3 ringtones need to be short or you may run into some problems. but it’s as simple as dragging the mp3 into the ringtone folder in bitpim.
ive had the 8350 for bout a week and today a piece of the charger broke of into the slot i dont like it comepared to the 8300 that i had because i cant select a certain tone for text messages for different people. this phone also does not have a built in flash. but the sound on this phone is a little bit louder an more clear i.e. calls, music, and ringtones im still deciding if I am goin to keep it or go back to the 8300
everyone who is having probs with their mp3’s, Get a data cable.. it will come with the drivers.. and if you got it off e-bay. you have to goto verizons website and download V Cast music manager. (free from their site or google it if you can’t find it). your phone can hold mp3’s without a microSD card.. it just won’t hold many and it will take away from your pix/flix and app. storage space. and to ones that can’t play the mp3’s with the phone closed..hold the play button for about 3 seconds
I have the 8350 and I can’t push my contacts into it using bitpim. I set it as an 8550 and it didn’t fail immediately but after parsing all the contacts i was told the directory was locked. I’m using bitpim 1.03.20071206 any one have any ideas?
To everybody who wants to use bitpim with the VX8350 but doesn’t have a data cable. First download and install the latest version of bitpim (1.0.5 as of this posting). Then using the bluetooth software on your computer set up a connection to the phone using the Bluetooth Serial Port. After this has been completed it will say that the serial port has been configured on COMX (where X is a number 1-9). Remember this number. Next start Bitpim. After it starts, go to “edit” then “settings”. Select the phone type as LG-VX8350 and then click on the “Browse” button accross from the “Com Port” text field. When the new window opens select “Bluetooth Communications Port (COMX)” (where X is the number from earlier) Then click ok to close this window and click ok to close the Phone selection window. Now your phone will work the same way as if you had hooked it up with a data cable. Bitpim’s website can provide information on how to use the software to transfer data.
Hope this helps everyone who doesn’t want to pay for a data cable.
Overall I really like my 8350. This is my second LG. My only complaints are the location of the speaker phone button, but that’s just my clumsiness ha ha ha I always hit it instead of clear when txting. The second problem i’m working on with verizon is the battery. I got my phone in November and it worked really well for about 2 months, then the battery life started getting shorter and shorter until I went to the store when it started lasting 8 hours without using it. They replaced the phone and battery. A week later it is already starting to decrease again. Waiting to hear back from verizon about this.
Other than that I love this phone.
I have been trying unsuccessfully to split some of my mp3s and WAVs to convert them to ringtones via BitPim. It seems Windows Media has taken over ALL my music files – even the ones I try taking directly from my own CDs, converting them to .wma files. I can’t find a file converter program that can change them back. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? Does anyone know how to get around it? It’s making me nuts………..
When I connect my computer to my VX 8350 via bluetooth I do not get a Bluetooth Serial Port profile so I’m wondering how Shadowclaw got this option. Any ideas?
They need a orange or green one:)
Anybody know how to change the font? please!!!!
My wife and I both own the LG 8350. I have no intention of going over each of the features and give a critique. But in one statement, it has fully met our our satisfaction and expectations.
bitpim won’t even recognize my phone as being connected at all (the 8350); it IS the newest bitpim version. i never had a problem with my 8300…
My goal is to find the pictures on VX8530 and get them to my computer via bitpim and a data cable… even looking at the file system I see no sign of the pictures. I guess they’re “protected”, thus invisible…
goal met. set camera to save to external media. picture is just fine on microSD card…
I don’t know how anyone can be complaining about this not working with BitPim. I turned on Bluetooth, found the phone, set up the COM port, and connected to it to BitPim – all in less than 15 minutes and with no googling needed – the very day I got it. Now BitPim auto-detects my phone, I’ve got three new rings, and I even synced my contacts and calendar. This thing is brilliant!
You don’t even need BitPim(although I have used it for prior phones successfully). Use the service offered by Verizon for free. If you set up a registered online profile with Verizon Wireless.com and set up “My Account”, you can use their “Backup Assistant” feature to backup your contact list from your old phone to your new phone without any wires or adapters or fees. The web page said it’s free….we shall see!
Does anyone have any trouble using the vx8350 with podcasts. I have transferred them with both WMP 11 and the Vcast software. sometimes it works, and sometimes the playback speed is greatly slowed down. The other problem I have is with logitech bluetooth headset. It connects just fine and plays all of the music, but some of the podcasts are all jumbled. The same podcasts when played through the phones speakers play fine though.
I am having second thoughts about this phone. I can’t change the font size!I think I’ll get the voyager
So I’m getting conflicting reports. BitPim works for some people, not for others. Other people are successful with a microSD card. I have a MicroSd card and I can format it using my phone, but when I put it in my computer, my computer says it hasn’t been formatted.
My computer doesn’t have bluetooth and I don’t want to buy a data cable if that won’t for sure work. Any ideas on why my pc doesn’t recognize my card as already formatted?
Hi 5oclock Charlie, I also have some problems putting podcasts on my lg vx 8350. Sometimes it works and other times the podcasts are really slow! I use the terrible Vcast software that comes with the music essentials kit. I will try the WMP 11 some time. Please post any information on how to fix this problem. I am also trying to see if I can use Audible.com downloads with the phone. I have also made my own mp3’s on my computer and for some reason the phone can not handle those either. I am disappointed how it is such a hit and miss thing.
I have to add that it’s a pain to open with one hand and the cheap feeling plastic is hard to grip at times. Sound quality is better than the 8300, but for some reason when I have it on speaker phone I’ll get reverb like a microphone too close to a speaker; That screeching sound. I’m disappointed about the lack of a flash, and the camera isn’t that much better than the 8300. No flash is just foolish designing. The font is also problem like others have commented.
i am so relieved to read that some of you are having the same problems i am having with this phone. i just purchased and received it yesterday – my first action is to navigate all menu items. ok – done.
but there are a few annoying little things and i am wondering if anyone can help? these aren’t really gripes at this point, and verizon tech hasn’t been very helpful. so – anything any of you can offer – FABULOUS!
1) mp3s as ringtone – not successful yet. i don’t want the music mp3, i want to save it as a ringtone. there is a great little service called zedge and you can download content to their wap page and access it from your mobile web. has worked fine on my other phones. mp3 ringtones from this will not download to my phone. error says “unsupported content”…??? any ideas how to get that to work? all i freaking want is a particular mp3 ringtone.
2) EXTERNAL SCREEN STAYS OFF. this is annoying. it comes on with an incoming call, or when any external button is pressed. but it turns off within seconds and does not display time/date/status anything. black. it doesn’t even show notifications for received txt msgs or voicemails. in the verizon store, the external displayed seemed to be on just like a normal flip phone. any ideas?
3) font – yup – i have the same problem. you can save normal 50 thousand times and the display font remains large. weird.
4) cannot save a “my sound” as a ringtone. ??? any clues? there is a ringtone menu and a “my sounds” menu. none of the sounds in “my sounds” can be saved as a ringtone as far as i can tell. any ideas???
THANKS FOLKS! i’m not as dumb as i may appear in this posting.
Question on loading the phone with MP3s – can they be organized in subfolders (e.g., by albums) or does it have to be a flat, single level list of tunes? Thanks.
Kimi-
You can save any sound (in MP3 format) as a ringtone, for the price of a data message- send the sound file to yourself (your cell #). when you get the message, open it, and under options you can save as ringtone. They MUST be 30 seconds or less.
As for the external screen, you can set how long it stays on for– (Up to 30 seconds, no always on, would kill battery WAY too quickly). Go to Settings and Tools, Display Settings, Back Light, Display, Front Backlight, Then set it for the desired amount of time you want it to stay on after last input.
Stu-
You have to load them directly as 1 long list of songs… The phone will organize them by Album, genre, etc, as long as you have the tags for the files complete. The tags must have all the info for this to work completely.
ABOUT THE VX8350 NOT RECOGNIZING OR PLAYING MP3’s ON A MICO SD..
I struggled with this problem for three days and put in about 5hr., before hitting on this simple fix.
Here’s how I solved the problem:
Load CD or whatever media onto your computer. Then simply highlight each program, song, or whatever and then click on “rename this program.” Then inter the number 1. Next highlight the next song, click on “rename this program,” enter the number 2, next song the number 3 and so on.
Do this for all songs.
The original name of the program or song will still be displayed after the number you enter when it is displayed on the phone.
Hi Myles, That reverb sound with the speaker phone means the phone is not a good one. My first 8350 did that and Verizon exchanged it to another one. They said there have been problems with that. My new phone, 3 months old, is fine so far.
this phone sucks. Cheap piece of crap, battery backing constantly falls off, call quality sucks, I drop a call at least once in an hour of talking out of state, horrible sound. Can’t save sounds as ringtones, stupid errors after using video for more than 5 minutes, NO FLASH. Never would I buy this phone if you are looking for it to last. I hate it
Back in January, justonemorechapter asked if audio books could be played on this phone. I haven’t seen a response. Has anyone successfully done this? How is it done?
The cell phones I have had in the past have had the ability to be set to military time (24 hour clock). The 8350 does not havethis feature – does anyony have a slution to this situation, software or other.
I have had the phone since September and am yet to have a problem with it. In fact I LOVE it! If your trying to put music on it get the music essentials kit and download mp3’s off your computer. you can use any music except for Itunes files. As for ringtones, it’s quite easy. record any songs, voices, what ever you want under the my sounds feature on the phone. You then send it to yourself in a picture message, there doesn’t need to be a picture. Once you receive the the message from yourself open it, hit options, then scroll down and chose the option to save it as a ringtone. Finally although there is no flash, I have set the camera the night mode, or things like cloudy, sunny, etc and my pictures come out fine. It seems if you want to do something with the phone and are willing to play with it, you will be able to do it.
Have had the Red 8350 for about 4 months with no problems. I just found out that I could use a micro SD with an SD adaptor to transfer music files from my computer to my phone. The files loaded in to a “music” file when I synced files to the micro disk. After I figured out I had to move files to “My Music” file for the phone to recognize, they play fine. My problem is the manual says bluetooth will recognize, but I can’t get my Plantronic 200 which works fine with the phone to recognize and play the music. Is there some setting I am missing?
Thanks everyone for all the good info!
Just received the vx8350 and I find it disappointing. Forget about trying to reinstall the rubber place holder for ports because the rubber pieces would be impossible to keep track or or to install easily. // P //
The sound on a call sounds uneven somehow; I keep turning the sound down, only to find that I’m still getting louder syllables now and then, like bursts. // P //
My phone becomes very warm in the body (keypad) and it’s unpleasant. I called Verizon, and they said that’s not normal, and have the phone checked at a Verizon Store. Yeah, like I have time to waste standing in line at a V Store for a silly phone. Thanks. // P //
Since purchasing the phone, I’ve read random accounts that LG phones can become warm, some become warm/hot randomly, and this is ridiculous. Nice in the Arctic, perhaps. // P //
I was so happy before with my Moto e815 that this LG seems junky. The charger connector and the charge port on the phone don’t seem to connect well; once inserted, the USB head can easily rock from side to side. The hinge doesn’t feel all that solid. And the OK button and respective arrow buttons don’t feel as if they’ll hold up well. // P //
Won’t bother using this as a music player or camera, so can’t comment on that. // P //
Not getting any better signal than I had with my e815, even though this LG is all digital and that’s why I upgraded. Call quality is okay, nothing to write home about. Overall: 5 out of 10.
I’ve tried using the music player for the first time. Within a few seconds of closing the cover, the voice command learning software cuts in and ends the music player. Anyone know what’s going on, or how to stop this?
I bought third party software Handset Manager in order to transfer my own music from Win2K (Verizon’s software only works under XP/Vista, and they seem to discourage you from using anything but downloaded music by making it very difficult to figure out how to transfer music from your hard drive.
I’m also using normal MP3 player stereo headphones with a 3.5 to 2.5 adapter (with no push button to talk/answer). I’m wondering if this might be my problem.
As of now the music player is useless to me. My wife has the same phone and has the same problem (but I’m using the same cable and adapter–until I get it working, I don’t want to buy more stuff that also won’t work).
Any ideas?
This phone blows.
Okay I realize that wasn’t very mature of me.
I am on my third replacement phone for this model.
Everytime I shut the phone, it would shut off. I took it back to the store and the guy said that the battery was coming disconnected and he replaced my phone. Not once but twice.
This was all with in three months of having it.
The only way it dosent shut off if I shut it is if I have the leather case on it or I shut it very gently (and even then half the time it shuts itself off)
Another thing I find annoying is the placement of the speaker phone button. This phone is not for the frequent texter.
I text about a hundred messages a day and the location of the speaker phone button is rather inconvienent.
I didnt even notice that the camera had no flash and spent about twenty minutes looking for it. It does take decent pictures reguardless but a flash would have been nice.
BITPIM is excellent and works well if you have a CDMA phone/service-Sprint, Verizon, Virgin Mobile. Sometimes initial setup is a bear, but once your phone is recognized by BITPIM, you can access your phones tree (like Windows explorer folders), phonebook, copy phonebook to a file on your computer, add any photo as a wallpaper, add any ringtone, edit mp3 etc anywhere to get the ringtone you want, and more.
You will need a data cable and driver, install the driver, install BITPIM, plug your cable to the computer and to your phone. Then in the BITPIM software, do a search for your phone and explore all your option and check BITPIM’s helpfile as to how to do what you want.
Here’s a cookbook for getting any ringtone onto a Verizon wireless phone if you have a Bluetooth enabled computer (macBook, for example).
1. iTunes: import any song from a CD, or buy songs for $0.99 from the iTunes store. Export the song as an MP3 file using Preferences => General => Import Settings and choose MP3. Then right-click on any song in your library and Choose Convert to MP3. Remember to set your import format back to AAC or whatever it was.
2. Audacity is a free, easy-to-use audio editor and recorder for Windows, Mac OS X, GNU/Linux. Read the MP3 into Audacity and trim out exactly the piece you want.
3. (Mac) Bluetooth: set up file transfer from your (Mac) computer to your phone. Mac will guide you to do that once you enable Bluetooth and enable your phone.
4. Copy (drag and drop!) your sound file into My Sounds on the phone.
5. Create a message to yourself (or another phone), select the file from My Sounds, and Send. After you receive the message and it plays out, select Options => Save As Ringtone.
How do I recover a voicemail message that I accidentally erased several hours ago?
