March 19, 2008 - Motorola has just released two new products: a wireless LAN switch and an adaptive access point with three radios. These new products will complete the long time in the works All Wireless Office. Although Motorola’s market stats have been slipping recently, this new technology will hopefully help to boost those numbers. With more and more businesses and homes going to wireless networks to increase accessibility and convenience, this may be the change Motorola has been needing to make in order to stay in the game.

With the need for office and business networks and with the additional growing need of these networks to be wireless, either in part or in total, Motorola is hopeful. Revenue from wireless LAN technologies has already seen a 21% increase from 2006 to 2007. Overall, wireless spending is projected to increase from 10% to 14% each year for the next several years. Motorola is also planning the release of next-generation voice products at an VoiceCon 2008 Orlando conference this week. These products will be produced under the brand name “Total Enterprise Access” and “Mobility TEAM.”

Analysts are predicting a healthy growth for wireless technologies and their integration into the workplace and home over the next three to five years. Motorola’s wireless networking sales have already jumped from 4.3% to $7.7 billion in the last quarter. Operating profits also sky rocketed to $1.2 billion. However, with all their attention on wireless technologies, their handset division has slipped in ranking from the #2 spot worldwide, to #3.
