Motorola Q9m is a PDA phone that comes with integrated full ergonomic QWERTY keyboard which is designed for fast and accurate typing. The Motorola Q9m runs on latest Windows Mobile 6.0 operating system. Because of that, the Q9m smartphone comes loaded with Windows Media Player Mobile for playing music and video clips, Internet Explorer Mobile for browsing Internet, and email client that synchronize with Microsoft Exchange server.
The major disappointment over the Motorola Q9m is it doesn’t support Wi-Fi network. However, users could buy an external SDIO WiFi card to make the Motorola Q9m supports Wi-Fi network.

it rocks
Well at first I loved this phone. I quickly have changed my mind and am probably going to go with the TILT(AT&T). It’s very sluggish, after clicking on ‘Start’ it usually takes about 5-10 seconds for the menu to open(I’ve even got all apps killed). Another thing thats seriously annoying is theres no ‘Close’ or ‘Exit’ for any of the apps, you have to go home, then to the Task Manager and Then kill your apps manually, which is rediculous… The way they have the Messaging and email setup is just not how it should be. You can’t add an Exchange server in the phone itself, like one of the verizon employees had told me, you haev to use the sync software. Also a Verizon rep had informed me that I could connect this phone with my data package to a laptop and get online, you can’t, you need the ‘Tethering’ package. For the Same price as this phone(450 mins unlimited data = 105.99, phone was 149.00), I could have a Tilt with AT&T(900 mins, Unlimited Data, WIFI, and GPS) for the same price as what im paying now! Goodbye Verizon!
i like the phone a lot i just dont understand that you cant get ringtones…??
Device has nice lines and is slim enough to put in my pocket. This is a “Smart Phone” so it’s main functionality is a phone and “oh yeah it does windows stuff too”. Unlike full blown PDA’s that focus around being a “mini computer”. And a PDA is great if you like creating an excel spreadsheet on a 4 inch screen. Call quality is great! This device is well rounded! A++
I like the phone you can have ringtones , a little slow on the load up but over all the phone is kooooooooool !!!
I forgot to add on my previous review, there are no games that are compatable with the Q9m that is the only down side to the Q9m!!!!!!!!!
Can someone please tell me how to get ringtones on this thing? Otherwise, I love this phone!
download audacity for ringtones and make your own then put em on your phone when sync’d to the PC
quick way for ringtones is to put music from your comp or a cd onto your storage card. then copy the song over to your ringtones folder. then you can find it in your settings menu.
i don’t understand how to get ringtones at all, someone please help me. i downloaded ringtones i sent onto my phone but they aren’t showing up in the settings, sounds section of my phone
I have to say im a little disapointed in this device.
The primary reason is I would have thought with my service provider(SP) they would have made sure that it had the SP’s Gps software capabilities.
Also the phone tends to lock up from time to time.
Even with nation wide coverage from the SP the drop calls are higher then expected.
With a total price tag of 499.99 the phone is a let down.
i like the phone, but it will not open adobe files.
i realy am interested in thisphone it seeems really good.
I really like this phone. I love how it automatically corrects my mistales
and I love the ringtones.. I download mine off the internet. I have not been able to connect it to my computer though. And for that I am very disapointed. But, overall I like it.
I have used MP3/WMA music for ringtones. Using “Windows Mobile Device Center” on your computer copy your favorite MP3 to \Application Data\Sounds directory on your phone. Then go to “Settings” and then “Sounds” and under “Ring tone” select the MP3 file you loaded. Try it, but pay attention to your phones available memory. When you rip your favorite MP3 in Windows Media player, on your computer, select the lowest file size.
So far this has been an interesting phone/PDA. I like the fact that it has a large database for contact information. The interface for the PC was a little tricky, but once I worked out the details, it works flawlessly. I am pretty impressed with this device. The sound quality of Windows Media Player 10 Mobile is quite good considering how small the speakers are. With a headset, it is quality stereo. I had an LG env, and I loved it, but this is more comprehensive. The coolest thing is the speaker phone portion is actually better than using just the phone.
I give the device an A+.
Trying to wean myself of a broadband subscription plan, but a little reluctant to switch. Motorola Q9M SmartPhone running Windows 6.0 with multiple applications installed. The problem is the phone’s was heavily promoting the Bluetooth capability and forgot to mention that Wi-Fi is NOT part of the equipmment. So I am madly investigating the purschase of a Spectec Mini SDIO WiFi Card 802.11b (SDW-822 Mini SDIO Wireless LAN). Why this brand? Because according to my research, this is the most compatable. So, my question is, can someone on the list who have used this card with the BOING service, please provide a rating on the connection time and the disconnects or drop-offs.
Thanks
Do you have to activate email feature in verizon account in order to use the phone?
