March 27, 2008 – Motorola, already a world leader in mobile manufacturing and service, has now announced their creation of two independent new companies. To form these two new, publicly traded companies, they will be separating their Mobile Device and Broadband and Mobility Solutions business into two independent businesses. The goals of this business venture will be to improve flexibility, provide more tailor made capital structures, as well as increasing their focus on management. Also, this will offer more investment opportunities for shareholders. In separating several of their smaller businesses into two larger, dependent businesses, the goal will be to create a more productive environment to improve their overall service to their customers.

Motorola to split into two independent companies.

The Broadband and Mobility Solutions business will be comprised of Motorola’s already existent Enterprise Mobility, Government and Public safety, and Home and Networks businesses. The manufacturing, designing, integration, and service of several services are controlled through these businesses.

Motorola will be using this opportunity to increase their focus on commitment to constantly increasing performance capabilities of mobile devices for their customers. In order to complete the separation of these small businesses into two independent companies, there are still a few customary conditions such as inter-company agreements and filling out certain documents before the process is complete. Motorola expects that if all the papers are filled out and all the business transactions are complete in time, they will be ready to create these two new companies by 2009. Motorola has also made no guarantees that this split will occur, or that if it does it will be done by a date in stone.
