I use one of these for my job in outside sales-handy unit, a little slow at times (processor does ONE thing at a time) and the VPN connectivity can be hair pulling frustrating, but overall a sturdy and useful device.

I work for a telecomms company, we use this piece of equipment, to receive/access/close jobs, and to get network details, to access and modify telephone exchanges, and activate customer equipment. i think this is a really really good piece of kit, obviously its been out for a while, and I’m a bit late in this review, but I wanted to ha ha.

I think with the right software this is brilliant, unfortunately some of the software we use, is quite unstable and crashes randomly, this is no fault of the hardware.

The only main drawback I can find is with the battery life, but again this may be to do with our software as it runs constantly in the background, we only get about 1hr constant use, but most of the time we have them in a cradle fitted in a van.

    anyway, hope this helps anyone.

    Cheers Dan
    any questions :)

Symbol MC70 may be good with their securities , TKIP, TLS, TTLS and WAP ….but I was able to find an exploit in the system that brought in full access to other Symbols. This exploit allowed me to access other Symbols outside the network and perform re-writes of their configurations , thus allowing me to utilize another Symbol’s functions and do what I please. Nice job , but like other PDA smartphones ….this MC70 is nothing to scream about.

    Peace!!

  5. daily user of this c__p Says:

My group got these bricks at the beginning of the year 09 and I truly do not know where to begin. They consistently have to be cold booted because of freeze, literally up to 6 times per day. Any blue tooth device sounds like you are in a tin can when calling another mc70. It drops calls when another is coming in. you cannot turn the devise off which means you have to charge it all the time…I could go on and on but from my daily usage of this device tells me the sales person pushing it on you or your company is not telling the whole truth about the MC70…get them a lap top made for ruff usage, you will not regret it.
