April 21, 2008- Samsung has done it again. They are really pushing their designers to create new innovations for their users. Now they have decided to go improve on touch screen technologies. Not only will users in the future be able to utilize touch screen options on new cell phones, they are currently working the patent filing out to create a phone that will recognize ‘gesture.’ You will not even have to touch or tap this phone, simple make gesture toward it and it will react… amazing!!
According to the patent that they are filing, the mobile recognition apparatus will be provided for their mobile phones. The input method will be programmed to recognize certain gestures that have a pre-programmed, specific meaning; these will be the control images. The image of a presented gesture will be captured by a camera and then registered in the “brains” of the device where it will be recognized as a command. The command, once recognized and processed will then be carried out.

If all goes well with the patent process, users will be offered a new option for command input into a phone. This could in fact come in very handy, for instance, what if your hands are dirty and you need to use your cell phone? Now users can simple gesture to the phone their intentions and the phone will react as is they had presented the command conventionally via touchscreen or using the keypad. Users are sure to be please by this new option. Let us know what you think… would you like a phone with gesture recognition??
