MySpace

April 10, 2008- MySpace and mBlox will be joining forces to offer a new alert service to users that will be able to reach 90% of mobile users. Now users can receive MySpace notifications when they have received new messages, friend requests, comments, or other communication from friends online. In working with mBlox, MySpace has found a way to reach millions of users who were previously uninterested in cell phone notifications. Carriers that will be offering the services include Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, Alltell Wireless, U.S. Cellular, and Virgin Mobile.

users can browse MySpace on their mobile phones

MySpace’s mobile industry has already been growing by leaps and bounds as more and more users are accessing their MySpace accounts via internet ready mobile devices. Since users are becoming more and more mobile, it is important to make these changes so that services are available to users via cell phone. 80% of MySpace users have cell phones and it would be very fair to say that most are out and about during the day more than they are sitting at their computers. So why not allow them a method of contact with their friends while on the go. MySpace has already launched a mobile version of their website to make browsing easier and more convenient for mobile users. By logging onto m.myspace.com, users can view a version of the original website more suited to mobile viewing. These options will offer MySpace mobile users more ways to stay connect wherever they are whenever and for however log they are there.

There are many mobile native SN start-ups beside myspace which are much more innovative. I don’t think myspace mobile is that great. More successful will be a mobile native network (for example AirG), I’m sure.
