New Options from Nokia Enhance Mobile Internet Experience
Filed under Nokia
March 28, 2008- Nokia has just announced a big development in their service. On Thursday, March 27, Nokia Siemens Networks announced that they have been able to successfully increase their download speed by more than double for downloads using 2.5 EDGE wireless technology. Users who are able to connect to mobile internet applications through AT&T’s EDGE network will now be experiencing faster than ever download speeds. Users are reporting that they have been so far able to download as speeds of 210kbps. However, users not able to access these high speeds may still be able to take advantage of the new service by simply upgrading their software to EDGE network equipment. Nokia stated that their customers can actually be offered download speeds up to 592 kbps via this new network option.
Nokia has taken an already existing technology (mobile internet access) and just improved the service they are able to offer their customers. Nokia’s goal is to offer users a faster access to the internet to keep them online everywhere. Business users can keep up with all the latest information that keeps their business on the top. Carriers have already established a paid for access to these networks anyway, so why not make the service a more desirable option to add for both new and existing customers. The market for mobile internet access is already booming, but I am sure it would grow even more rapidly if the service were improved upon.
The change will offer smooth transitions between 2.5G EDGE networks and already existent 3 G HSDPA networks. In other words, with these two networks running at loser speeds, it will be easier to transfer information and data between users utilizing different networks. Dual carrier options are another upgrade that would be quick and easy and enhance the mobile experience.
