Ever wonder whether there is better predictive text software other than T9, the most popular predictive text software for mobile phones? Well, now you have other options. An Indian startup, myMobile Ergonomics, is set to launch a new predictive text software called CleverTexting.

“There is actually a narrow spectrum of possibilities over which all the words that we use fall under whether they are dictionary words, proper nouns, names of people and places.

Using a dictionary less system, the software makes its prediction based on the statistical nature of a particular language. This is essentially the popular phonemes and syllabary in a language. ”

CleverTexting is also able to compress SMS so you can pack in more text into your same message. The receiving phone also needs the software installed to be able to decompress the message.

Currently the early proof of concept distribution is claimed to produce about 30-40% compression reliably. This enables a message of around 210 characters to be compressed into a single 160 Character message. The company says that future versions will compress much more. The actual amount of compression depends on the nature of the input text . A statistically normal text is more compressible than one which is not.

A java implementation is available on the web site for a free trial: www.CleverTexting.com
