Next Generation of Broadband Network is Critical for UK economy

When United States is trying hard to recover from the sluggish economy due to the mess of subprime mortgages, UK are making plan for the future. According to the government advisory body the Broadband Stakeholder Group (BSG), “widespread deployment of next-generation broadband–which is significantly faster than current fat pipes–is critical for the U.K. economy.”
Chief executive of the BSG, Antony Walker, said next-generation broadband could “transform the way we do things as individuals, businesses and as a nation as a whole”.
Besides that, BSG also said that the “long-term benefits of a high-speed broadband network would exceed the cost of deployment, which are currently estimated to be £16 billion (US$31.6 billion).”
This report shows that the future of global economy depends on the high-speed broadband network, including the high-speed mobile network, which US is lagged behind, compared to other developed countries, such as Japan, and European nations.
