Nokia N6555 is a 3G cellular phone that was released first in Europe in the third quarter of 2007. Considering its features and specifications, the Nokia N6555 isn’t one the top in the line 3G phones that you can find in the market. The Nokia N6555 comes integrated with barely 1.3-MP digital camera (6X digital zoom), built-in MP3 player that plays MP3, AAC, eAAC+ and WMA format music, video clips player, and video recorder. Nokia does let consumers down with the Nokia N6555 as the N6555 phone has only 30MB internal memory storage. This means users definitely have to get external microSD card to expand its memory storage space.

Other than that, the Nokia N6555 is a fairly light cellular phone that has a very sleek design, especially its mirror external display.

  1. Claudia Youngreen Says:

I am returning this phone. It may be I just got a bad one. It didn’t hold a charge very well and it wouldn’t tune on at one point. It didn’t respond to the car charger but did when I used the wall charger. I couldn’t get service once until I turned it off and on again. The alarm worked the first night but not the next night. I checked all the settings and they were right. This all happened in the first 5 days I had the phone. Needless to say, it is going back.

  2. bo Says:

this phone sucks ass…and they recommended it to me too!…and then i get all these problems with messaging and service too…don’t buy this phone!…it’t a rip off!

  3. Coonie Says:

I have this phone basically because it was free with a new contract. I like it. It’s no IPhone, but everything works on it. It’s a bit slow, a bit camera retarded, but the overall design is sleek, light, and the display is very clear and defined. One major drawback for me though: You cannot control the back-lighting timeout. It is 10 seconds – period. Just try to read anything on-line (e-mail, Wikipedia, etc.) and you have to keep pressing a key to keep the damn light on. That really really sucks. And there is no application software that I can find, i.e. PDF reader, etc. So, the price is right, but I would never pay more than $10 for this phone (with a new contract). The battery life is on the low end I should quickly add.

  4. shirley Says:

I like the design and sleekness but why is the volume bar on the top when open, it just feels wrong. The back lighting reaaly sucks, Its just not long enough for squat. And The alarm clock doesn’t give you enough time slots per day, only one per day I need at least 2-3. Its going back. I did like the color display.

  5. I LOVE THIS PHONE Says:

This phone in red was a replacement for a very HORRIBLE blackberry pearl that didn’t even make calls. Download the Nokia software and via blue tooth sync all your contacts, music, pix etc. Alarm works great I even sent mine with a custom ring from my 10 year old “Mommy time to get up”. I agree that the battery is an issue but I have found that make sure all the extras are turned off (I killed it in three hours by leaving the bluetooth on for my headset). This is an incredably flexable phone with built in MP3 player, I haven’t tried pod cast with it yet.

  6. Better than the Sync! Says:

I have now been through 3 phones from AT&T since my old Moto v220 got run over (hehe, don’t ask). I went through two Samsungs, the A427 I think it was, and the Sync. Both sucked. (Was not going to a Moto Krzr/Razr/Whatever-zer. Had to argue to get a third replacement, but they did it, and I spent the extra cash and got the Nokia 6555. Great phone!

I thought the displays stunk at first as well, BUT you need to play with the setting to how you like it. Works awesome now for me, sounds wonderfull, a fantastic cell phone.

Messaging is average for phones like this, comparable to any Sansung or Moto.

    Music is just that, music.

Speaker phone sounds nice and clear.

Talk/Standby charge time are better than my last Moto, so that’s a plus.

The camera is WAY better than those Samsungs. Easy to use, it almost seems like it has image stabilization, becuase the pics are crisp and clear.

So, as a phone, A+. Additional Features, A- (only because it got spoiled with an iPhone for a week, hehe).

  7. Not so fast on the 6555 Says:

Got this phone a few days ago. Here’s what I’ve noticed so far:

It has a habit of turning itself off even when there is plenty of charge on the battery- three times in 24 hours. This is sitting on my desk, not in a pocket or other place where it might get bumped or jostled. I reseated the battery after the first time this happened to see if that was the problem. No, no, it wasn’t.

When the battery does go out while on a call, there is a beep, and that’s it. I was on a call with my insurance company, and after navigating the automated phone tree, and actually getting to a live person (about four minutes in), it beeped once and died without any other warning. The battery indicator read half full before starting the call.

The external buttons remain active when closed. I keep having to deny initializing PTT (push to talk) upon opening the phone. There is an automatic keyguard, but there isn’t an option for “activate on fold” and no way to set how quickly the timeout occurs. You can manually lock the keys, but that kind of eliminates the benefit of having a flip, no?

The camera is pretty bad; the lowly vga camera in my 3660 was far better quality. It had half the resolution of the 6555, but less than a quarter of the noise.

The “universal” 2.5mm (3 banded) headphone jack doesn’t work with Nokia “universal” plugs. I tried two different sets. It could just be a bad jack on this particular phone. I was able to use a headset by pulling the plug out one “click” and holding it there, but why would anyone want to do that?

The analog clock you see in all of the promo pix? I did get it to work, but it’s upside down for a few seconds after closing, then goes to the wallpaper for 5 seconds, then back to the clock rightside up for a few seconds before blacking out. Then it shows a digital clock and the date after that times out. Really, the clock isn’t that big of a deal, but on all of my previous Nokias, everything has worked the way you would expect it to, and that was just a flag for the fact that this phone was either not well designed, or not well-executed.

The one thing I will say for it, is that voice quality is very good; on both ends, from what people tell me.

    It’s going back.

  8. No Tunes for Me Says:

Experiencing same problem with 2.5mm jack as referenced in previus post. Have tried multiple headsets and adaptors and all have exhibited the same issue with poor contact. Have tried multiple 6555 units and all exhibit same problem. How can this make it through the QA process?

  9. Love this Phone Says:

Had “Charger Not Supported” error with my first Nokia 6555 on the first day out of the box. Took it back to AT&T and got it replaced for free.
Love my second Nokia 6555. It works great and I love it. It has all the features I wanted.

  10. not a good phone Says:

battery has very poor life. like the camera, turn phone on one morning and less than 1 hr. it was dead and the back of the phone was hot where the battery was so i turned it off and called for a replacement waiting for it to come see what happens to this one

  11. N6555B - A mind of its own! Says:

I guess I am also experiencing the same problems as some previous posts with this N6555 phone turning off for no reason! This doesn’t happen all the time but during these actions, the phone has turned off a few too many times: nagivating through the phone book, answering a call, flipping phone open…

The latest was this morning when I flipped it open to check the time and battery (about 1/2 way) when I closed it, it beeped 3 times, and it shut off…. I have not been able to turn it on ever since….going to the dealer to get an exchange now!!!

  12. Reshmi Says:

So true! the phone just shuts off on its own for no reason.

  13. buzz Says:

On a Nokia 6555 it comes set to ping for internet out of the box. Go to “settings” then “connectivity” and you will see “packet data” set to “when needed”. The other setting drains the battery down quickly.

  14. boating Says:

My battery is fine. It charges full from a dieing battery in 30 mins tops! Oh and how do you put ringtones on your nokia 6555 without texting? Im sorta confused..Any help? It’d b nice.
    Thanks

  15. Dstep Says:

    Hello Friends,

Can anyone help me with the restricted code on this phone in asia? thanks

  16. Nice phone, not Says:

I have the same problems with it turning off! It shut off several times in a span of a few months, got fed up and called warranty to ship back, got new one and within the first 6 hours of turning it on it shut off. It was fine for a while but then it shut off 10+ times in one night, today alone it’s done it over 3 times. I’m sick of dealing with the phone people who talk like they have to restrain themselves to be nice to you. They offered to replace it, but do I /really/ want to try another?.. Then they offered me a similar device but they never called me back about it. I’m going to the store tomorrow to see what I can do.

  17. jb Says:

This phone is horrible. Always turns off by itself in the middle of calls even with a full charge. Had the battery replaced, then the whole phone replaced. Still turns off during calls. Only way to prevent that is keep the charger plugged in and stand next to the wall when talking. If travelling I have to turn the phone off in case I need to use it later as charge will not last a day. Phone is basically worthless if you can’t stand next to the wall all day while using it. This is the main problem. Also can’t turn speaker on phone till other party picks up the phone. Callers can’t hear you for the first few seconds when you answer. Had to get a whole new model today. Did I mention on important calls, long calls, or any calls, only way to ensure phone doesn’t die is to stand next to the wall with it plugged in when talking?

  18. JAWS Says:

Phone is OK but apparently delicate. Broke the external display within the first month (should have gotten the phone insurance). Now it winks and blinks. Battery life is questionable. Reception is acceptable. Screen goes dark too quickly…how do I change that? Just another phone. OK but not great.

  19. diva30 Says:

This phone sucks, I had the first one and really liked it until 30 days after when the internet started to not connect, they sent me another one…The speaker buzzes, the main display blinks all the time for no reason, the mini display dissapears, the battery lasts nothing…and all these things started the second day after I git it. I hate it, do not ever buy it.

  20. Saraineth Says:

This phone is a really a “piece”. I had it for about 10 months, and within that time the battery has sucked lasting maybe half a day. The Phone restarts everytime I turn on the bluetooth. And a few times the phone has restarted and I am missing all kinds of stuff, in other words the phones restarts and things are deleted with out me doing it. I even lost menus, I mean its not like you can delete the menus but never the less they just disappeared. Honestly, you could not pay me to ever get, or ever use this phone again. (Cannot wait until March for the contract to end)

  21. Susan Says:

I hate this phone and that’s a nice way of putting it…I have it and so does my sister. It shuts it’s self off a few times a day, randomly disconnects calls, does not tell me when I have voicemails and overall I’m just really disappointed with it. I would never suggest anyone to ever get it, and am a little upset I didn’t just replace my razor when I had to get a new phone. It’s horrible, don’t buy it and don’t let your friends buy it.
