Instant messaging along with other forms of digital communication and usage are becoming more and more popular as well as more and more common in the daily life of an American.

In on study, 58% of American adults reports that they user their cell phones or PDA for at least on of a list of ten data activities. These digital activities included everything from making a phone call to texting, emailing, taking pictures, and recording videos. 41% of American reported that they had used their cell phone or PDA to acces the internt while “on the go.”

Handsets have become a primary way for the American public to stay informed and connect to their world as they continue to function within it without even a moment to catch their breath. There were several different function that were looked at in examining the American public’s use of their PDA and cell phones. For instance:

At first these numbers may not seem all that high, but think of them in these terms… when cellular phones were first produced, they were only used for phone calls. Now they not only feature a lot of different ways to keep yourself entertained, but many Americans are using all these features on a daily basis.
