April 24, 2008- S60 was the first mobile software platform to allow users to create customized widgets and now they are getting ready to offer another innovation to users: extended capabilities of its Web Run-Time which will allow users to create personal and context aware widgets. This new innovation for users marks a time for a potential change in the economics of mobile software development. Now anyone who has access to Web development can create mobile applications as well. S60 will also be able to make new and already existing internet services more powerful and relevant by integrating personal data such as current location.
The mobile needs of the public have changed the way service providers and customers alike use the internet. It has become more personal since it never seems to leave your side. This has led S60 to realize the need for continuing enhancement of services. Their applications and services will now be accessible to users for personalization making them more useable and practical for each individual user.
Personalized widgets can offer users services that will make daily tasks more convenient. For example, a personalized GPs application, such as WeatherBug, could let users know the latest weather conditions for their travel and suggest changes. Also, a flight tracker widget could potentially inform users when flights have been canceled or delayed and allow users to make new travel arrangements. Personalized widgets will offer users more services that are personalized to their daily lives making daily activities run more smoothly.
