Samsung launched a number of new cell phones at the Mobile World Congress held in Barcelona, Spain during February 2008. One of them is the candy-bar designed Samsung F480 slider phone, which features semi transparent overlays and rich animations. The handset features many applications which are commonly found in personal digital assistants (PDA) and smart phones. The device is a successor to the Armani phone released by the company during 2007.

The F480 sports a 2.8 inch QVGA touch screen display that shows images in a resolution of 240 x 320 pixels. This 3.5 G supporting device offers high speed HSDPA data download rates. The device supports instant messaging, multimedia messaging and text messaging. The phone boasts of a 5 mega pixel CMOS camera which is equipped with auto-focus, LED flash, image & video stabilization. The camera has a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels.

The F480 is a quad band GSM phone. It automatically switches between GSM 900/1800 and 1900 networks according to their availability. The device is equipped with useful applications like video messaging, FM radio with RDS and mobile tracker. The handset allows the users to expand its memory by using a microSD memory card.

The phone’s video camera records and shows video films in JPEG format. Its music player supports common music file formats like MP3 and AAC+. The device is equipped with a predictive text input but lacks WiFi support. The phone’s multimedia controls offer wonderful mobile telephony experience to the users. This light weight phone weighs just 95 gm and uses a Li-ion battery.

This PDA styled handset has support for EDGE, GPRS, HSDPA and UMTS networks. This ultra slim device comes in a pocket friendly clamshell. The handset has exceptionally good video and audio delivery quality. The device is being eagerly awaited by mobile users everywhere.
