Samsung i760, which is the upgraded version of Samsung i730, comes with very sleek and unique design with both a numeric keypad and full QWERTY keyboard (could slide-out). The Samsung i760 runs on Windows Mobile Professional (Pocket PC)
version 6 and impressive Samsung 2442 400 MHz processors. Because it runs on Windows mobile operating system, the SCH-i760 phone comes pre-loaded with nice office programs such as Internet Explorer Mobile and also sweet Windows Media Player 10 that allows you to play MP3 music and watch videos.
Besides that, the Samsung i760 also has built-in 1.3-MegaPixel digital camera that allows 1280 x 960 resolution pictures anywhere you go. Since the SCH-i760 phone also supports wi-fi network, you could browse the Internet and make free VOIP phone calls wherever there is a WiFi hotspot.

hi just want to ask if this phone is also going to be available in asian market? i really like this phone…
After using the just about every pc phone on the market, I eagerly anticipated the debut of the i760 and the new HTC product (Verizon 6800). I now have a phone that works on all levels. Perfect? No. More memory would have been nice and I am not a great fan of the side-slide keyboard. This is still, however, the best of this type phone, BY FAR. If you need the pocket pc format, look no further. The new HTC product has yet to come to Verizon but I have used the AT&T version and like the Samsung better.
So far, this is a big upgrade over my old 6600 (what a piece of crap). I like the look and feel. The snap of the keyboard slide feels solid. I personally like the sliding keyboard but I did not like the 6600 so this is a nice change.
After a bit of effort, Verizon Wireless techs (three) finally figured out how to get my i760 to synch with my Verizon Wireless Synch. Outside of that, the equipment is nice but to be fair, I have only had it a couple days.
Great design and software. Screen is easy to read. Fast response and no crashing issues. qwerty keys work well and are very easy to see in less than perfect light.
Could use more memory built in, wish it would charge while it is connected to a computer usb port and had a standard mini-usb connector. Had the HTC 6700, which I really liked too, but wanted the hardware dial pad on the front of the i760.
Fantastic! Everything EXCEPT -
(sorry – hit the submit key and didn’t finish)
EXCEPT – We get TWO batteries but you can’t CHARGE a battery without it being IN the phone – and you can’t charge and be synched to your laptop – which means no teathering for internet or synching when charging!
Come on – let it charge through the USB cable from the laptop or build an external charger.
I’ve had the latest two Blackberrys and the newest Q in the last 6 moinths. Was trying to find a phone a 47 year old could use. (And read) Well, I’ve found it. I LOVE this phone/PDA. Far better than those listed above.
BUT… it does take a few days to get use to. Give it a week and you will never want to be without it.
I can’t find an infrared port on my phone yet above it says it has infrared under communications?
Does someone knows how to raise the time limit that u can record when u are on the camcorder mode? actually it set to 15m sec which is not really long!!
how can you set up a ringtone for the phone
I upgraded to this PDA/phone from Verizon’s XV6700. I like the phone better, but I agree with other reviewers. It needs to be able to charge while hooked to the computer either through the USB cable or a cradle. The phone comes with the second battery but a charging/sync cradle is not even available. It would be nice to be able to charge the extra battery seperate from the phone, like a second slot in a cradle. It would also be nice to have a standard power/sync connector port like a mini USB instead of the propiatary port that it has. The charger is not even compatable with other Samsung phone chargers. This forces us to really get tangled with the extra cables needed while traveling or even on the desk.
my first smart phone. I like it but would to see more on board ram. I’ve noticed a good bit of screen freezes and glitches. I believe more ram would help iron out these issues, I’ve maxed out the ram but can’t figure out how to allocate the storage card to the device ram… any suggestions?
You CAN, there is a cable sold ‘google it’ that allows you to be tethered to the USB port and it will charge at the same time.
I need to be able to install Goodlink to get access to Outlook. Can this be done w/ the I760?
Hi. I just switched to this phone on Verizon and it says it has EMS, however, my friends continue to send me more than 160 count text messages, as they did before, and now I continue to get error messages on both sides – these are both through Verizon. Thoughts? Did I do something wrong? Anyone else have this issue? These are not MMS, I was just looking to see why the messages are not just truncated, but are not actually being delivered other than the first 160 messages?
Good Meessaging.. Verizon and Good Inc. both tell me that “Good” messaging is NOT supported on the i760 for Verizon. However, there are conflicting reports from users, some say it works others say no.

I love this phone, but occasionally the phone’s screen freezes. Help, I dont know what to do each time except remove the battery. Thanks!
Got this phone as an upgrade from verizon. Here is the truth
1.Great call quality, signal reception
2.Can become slow without an external memory card
3.User keyboard input and touch screen can be very slow too much delay – try texting someone
4.Be careful when you hang up calls sometimes you need to press the end call button twice to make sure the call ended
5.Unlike the treo it does not group text messages, so if you receive 4 messages from the same person it shows it as 4 separate messages
6.Battery life is not good, if you talk a lot too bad for you.No wonder it comes with an extra battery from verizon
7.Camera quality is impressive
8.Making calls is so easy, just spell the name like dialing a 1800 number
9.Sometimes if turns off by itself when not use for a long time, make sure you turn this feature off else you might there is something wrong else the phone
A review for the Samsung i760
My Samsung i730 did everything. It was a perfect gadget companion, until I dropped it into the Chesapeake Bay. It didn’t quit altogether. It slowly lost functionality.
I needed a new phone, but few other phones offered Wi-Fi. I didn’t think there was another phone out there that could come close to what my i730 could do … until I found the i760, the Samsung upgrade from the i730.
With that said, here are the pros and cons:
The pros:
The size is perfect. The candy bar shaped phone does not have an antenna stub, which I appreciate. The buttons are easy to access and the slide out Qwerty keyboard feels good to the touch. The dial responds well. The screen size is great. I’ve already dropped the phone, proving its durability.
I love the camera. It is a 1.3 megapixel camera with a flash. It offers zoom, light settings, as well as sepia tone and black and white picture settings. You have to be a bit steady with the camera, but I have had lots of fun with it. The batteries (standard and extended) are sleek and stylish. They’ve added software like PowerPoint, and removed software I never used. My Gameboy, Nintendo and Super Nintendo games all work well on my phone, and I love being about to use Wi-Fi and the phone and Internet at the same time. I can phonernet very easily.
The cons:
It’s going to take some getting used to the buttons. They are not geographically adjacent to the screen window wither the keyboard is open or closed. Also, the phone uses the green dial button for calls, and the red button to disconnect, placed on the sides of the phone. The red button is peculiarly placed where I hold the phone, so I’ve accidentally hung up on a couple of people.
I wish the Samsung i760 came with more accessories. For example, it did not come with a docking station, headphones, case, or an extra telescoping stylus. I wish they had backup software included as well.
And the batteries are stronger than the i730, but you still need the extended battery for heavy use. When I’m streaming television, online, typing notes, using Bluetooth and the phone all at once, it can drain the battery.
Overall:
It’s a great phone. I can’t do everything I used to do with my old phone (ir, remote control), but I can do so much more (camera and video with flash, joystick control, PowerPoint, GPS). The button placement has some getting used to, but it is well designed. I am making sure this one does not get dropped in the Chesapeake Bay.
i love this phone, i just recently purchased, i had all the treos from the p to the w to the wx…it drove me crazy…this is a great pda…does anyone know how to transfer music from your media player into a ringtone
For ringtones, just copy and paste the file into your “My Ringtones” file under “My Documents”.
Then go into Phone Settings and the title of the file will appear.
You can then go into Contacts, open your contact and scroll down to Ringtone, your audio files will be on your list now and you assign them to whom you want.

Now, if anyone can tell me how to send and receive MMS files without the brown box of denial, I would love to hear it.
Worked the first day and not since, kind of important to be able to send photos in the advertising industry.

Darnell,
You stated the Samsung i760 would do GPS and Nintendo games…how is this done?
Also, does the phone have an alarm clock that will play mp3 tunes?
if I could run you tube videos it would be perfect for me.
I wanted to see if anyone had answers to a few questions:
1. Can it play mp3’s for the alarm clock
2. Does anyone know of sites to get adobe reader (cheap or free) and flash player?
3. What do you have to do to get you tube to run on it?
if you want to run youtube get avot mV or upgrade your macromedia player. for nintendo, supernintendo and so on…. you hav to get the emulator that is a cab. file i currently have jus gameboy advance on mine cuz it takes the least memory out of them all… to send mms you go through your text message then clickt the drop menu and go to mms and upload your pic, mp3, or videos u want to send and jus hit send. hav had this phone for 8 months now and love it still think its the best out .. ive had the tre 650, treo700, treo750, audiovox vx6700, blackjack, blackberry pearl, blackberry8703 and this is the best so far… but im sure there is better since this phone only has 1.3 camera and 3g capability is out so samsung needs to step it up…..
YouTube does work on the phone I use it every night @ work.Go to ytpocket.com and thats how you access the videos in working order just like the parent site, it’s great. Anyway, make sure you go to the help icon first and download the media player required it’s easy and they give you directions.
Whats the cost of thyis mobile and wen will it launch in the Indian market? reply me at anujtahim@yahoo.com
i was wondering as well about the texting and the 160 character max and getting an error mess. anyone help me with that?
Anyone know how to send multiple text messages by my group list…My old i730 had this option very and was very easy (just grab, hold and drag. Trying to do it the same way and it wont do it. Help.. big issue for me.
As I am reading this blog on my i760 I consider myself fortunate that I do not have the problem of messages with more than 160 characters. I just purchased my phone yesterday so I guess that maybe my phone is updated more than the phones of those who have posted before me. Anyway does anyone know how to get a Game Boy emulator on the i760? I was also wondering if there are any sites available that I can use to download games to my phone while using my phone’s browser.
Thanks,
Tim in Cincinnati
Does anyone know how to setup the phone so that when you recieve an incoming phone call or incoming text message the front screen will light up and show who the incoming message or call is coming from??? my old phone used to have the front screen light up and show who the caller was without me needing to slide the phone open. Please help. i’m very frustrated with this new phone and its settings.
how do i turn on my from screen so i can read incoming calls and incoming text messages?
this is the best phone i’ve ever had! I have no real issues with it.
The phone sucks. In a service professional environment, it will not hold up to the rigors of everyday multi-environmental use. The unit does a lot of things. I does not do any of them well. The slider for the keyboard often loses connection. It never uses the same form or format twice to do the same thing, based on orientation or function. The “answer” and “end” keys were placed in exactly the wrong place given how one must hold the unit while talking. It has a nasty habit of frequently unpairing itself from the bluetooth headset. The buttons often stick and cause a loud annoying tone that can only be quieted by unplugging the battery. The touch screen goes out of alignment all the time and becomes insensitive in the corners to the point where the slider must be used to reorient the unit in order to operate the very tiny function selections located in the least sensitive areas of the screen. Of course it always become very in tune to accidently touching the screen and it doing the most bizzare functions that one never dreamed the thing could do. Naturally occurring at the most convienient time. The camera could have used a higher resolution than 1.3mp. The active sync thing drives me nuts. It never seems to be able to sync when needed, but always reminds you that it failed to sync. The bluetooth connections do not work very well, at least not according to the instructions. Where the heck is the underscore key? I have used this phone for nearly a year, or perhaps the phone has used me. I waste more time trying to get the phone to do the things it was intended to do than getting real work done which is a hefty chore. It is supposed to work with you to enhance your capabilities, not become a millstone around your neck. I would not recommend this phone, and often when asked, explain to others exactly what I am relating now, especially, to those interested in this type of technology. I would not get another phone like this. with this phone, I give it ten thumbs down, but would really like to give it the finger. I think a 9″ notebook with wifi would have been a better choice and as easy to carry with. I keep hearing the sounds of the Chesapeake and wishing this phone could be a skipping stone from my back deck. The battery pack must constantly be kept on the charger. Battery life is marginal at best, even with the extended battery in place. When it rains, or the humidity is high, it is anyones guess then what the phone will do next, or will decide not to do. Usually Samsung products are excellent. This time, well I’ll be kind…
I have to write now to counter what VFP says above. I have had my phone since August 08. I love this phone and an very vocal about telling others all the reasons that it is better than any other smartphone out that Verizon carries. I think VFP has a dud – which would be possible with any phone. I love the touch screen, love the slider, love the camera with its sepia settings, and B&W. I have had no problem with battery life, and I am a heavy user – Wi-fi, phone, bluetooth, games, texting. I rarely have to switch to the backup battery.
There are only two things I do not like about it – no GPS for navigation and the 160 char limit on text messaging.
I am looking forward to the next Samsung smartphone, and even though the Saga is now available, and fixes my two issues; I don’t know if I am ready to part with my i760.
Thank you to whoever gave me the directions to use mp3 ringtones!!!!
How do I record my own ringtones?!?>!?!?!?!?!?!
I have a BIG warning on this phone. It DOES NOT keep the right time for areas that do not recognize daylight savings time. It is very frustrating as you set the phone time and later it automatically changes to a new time.
