The Samsung L170 is a 3G camera phone which is equipped with a 1.6 inch, 262 K TFT display that has a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels. The device is equipped with several standard applications like call logs, phone book and a calculator. The phone weighs only 86 gm and makes use of a standard Li-ion battery that has a standby time of up to 2 hours & 50 minutes and a talk time of up to 250 hours. The device has support for Bluetooth with A2DP that allows the users to transfer files from the handset at about three time faster rate than GPRS.

The phone’s 2 mega pixel camera shows images in a resolution of 1600 x 1200 pixels. The device is also equipped with a secondary VGA video camera that allows the users to make and receive video calls. The handset is also equipped with a NetFront web browser with RSS feeds that shows internet pages in HTML format. The handset comes with 21 MB of embedded memory which can be expanded further by using a TransFlash microSD memory card.

The phone’s battery can provide the users with approximately 240 hours of talk time and 2.7 hours of standby time. The L170 has support for EDGE, Bluetooth and GPRS but does not support Infrared and HSCSD. Its T9 text input application is very useful when one types texts into the device at a fast rate. The application will automatically type and complete a word based on the first 2 or 3 characters typed by the user.

One can store information related to the contacts’ street address, email ID and job titles etc. in the handset’s phone book. The device has a large navigation pad that allows users easy access to its main menu items. The Samsung L170 comes with standard Samsung phone accessories like a car charger, reference manual and warranty document. The device comes in a metallic silver colored casing.
