The Samsung SGH-u340 is an entry level CDMA flip style phone which is designed for consumers who need a simple-to-use phone to make and receive calls. All standard cell phones features such as voice activated dialing, analog roaming, MMS messaging, and speakerphone are available with the Samsung u340. However, its built-in VGA camera is more like a toy than a useful feature to take quality pictures. Weighting barely 3.2oz, the u340 phone is great to slide into your pocket and carry it around.

I do not like the fact that you cannot download ringtones the ones that are currently on the phone are really bad (no one likes them). Just because we have prepay it seems like we are being punished. My daughter in law got a prepaid phone and can download ringtones why does this phone not have that feature. I have had other verizon prepaid phones and if I knew this phone did not offer that feature I would not have spent the money to upgrade to this phone.

When I picked this phone, I chose it based on its flat shape and sleek design. After I started using it, I found that those are its only redeeming qualitites. Compared to the LG VX5300 that I previously owned, using this phone is like using a brick. While it is just as easy to search your contacts, make a call, and check your messages, doing anything else is a pain in the butt. The phone suffers from bad lag. It takes 2-3 seconds for the text-message editor to open, and there is a subtle-yet noticable and annoying-lag when trying to do anything else. The phone is listed as being able to browse the Internet, but there is no Internet-browing software that I can find. The phone also has a measly 6 MB of internal memory, so dont plan on taking and saving more than about 50 large pictures. However, I am bugged more by the lack of this oinformation in the phone itself. I had to come to this website to find that out, after it unexpectedly told me that the memory was full. Overall, your grandmother may be perfectly fine with this phone, but if you plan to do any sort of customizing, or use it for anything besides making calls, you will find that you are limited by its sub-par software and interface.

This phone sucks!! They need to lower the price or stop selling it. You can’t browse the internet or download ringtones and the packaging features clearly state that. Even this review states internet access. Complete waste of 40 bucks. I should have gotten Cingular. I think I’ll sell this on Ebay. UGH!! Prepaid phones need to step it up.

  4. christin Says:

i absoulutly hate this phone. i spent 75$ on a phone that i cant get ringtones on. and thats basically the reason i got a phone. now when i move back to my home state peope are going to hear these idiotic ring tones on this phone. to bad i cant take it back

  5. chassity asad Says:

  7. DSTremf Says:

Wow! Its good phone for what it does/does not do. I didn’t buy my so I could listen to stupid ringtones. I don’t like contracts and my phone works great. What is really great is being on my inlaws net work and not paying for the time I use. Some people expect to much for to little. So get over it!

  8. Jonathon Says:

I got this phone just 2 days ago and I gotta say it’s alright. The text application is not that much slow to open (opens in 1.5 seconds) and the only flaw in the camera is that you can’t zoom in on the fullest resolution. And as for the ringtones I just email the ringtones to my phone

  9. me Says:

How do you email ringtones to your phone??

  10. j Says:
