try the link below for loading custom .mp3, .wav

    load any special drivers.

you MUST be hacker-savvy, and be able to run BitPim,
a hex editor, and of course have a USB data connector.

  60. Macgyver Says:

Forgot to mention.. voice recorder.. 1 minute only.. ARGH

  61. Nick Says:

To get music on the phone you will need the music pack from verizon which comes with the proprietary USB cable. Then you install the software or you can let Windows Media player 11 pick the device up like an MP3 player. I don’t think you can use MP3’s as ringtones because it’s the same thing with my wife’s chocolate and she can’t get any of her MP3s to work as ringtones and verizon wants you to pay for downloading their ringers.

  62. Manson Says:

Can someone pleassssssssssse answer my question I really need to know how to set music on my phone as my ringtone.

  63. Jason Mason Says:

So yeah, it makes sense to buy the Samsung Music Essentials, but I don’t want to throw down $30. I’ve tried saving Mp3 files to my removable micro SD, but when I insert it into my computer, it says that the location is offline or that the device is empty. WTF? I figured if I can save Mp3 files on the micro SD it would work. Does anybody know how to make the micro SD save Mp3 files externally?

  64. josmo Says:

  66. x-style- Says:

How do u put an mp3 song as ur ringtone?

  67. the g from the boro Says:

can the sch-u740 upload pictures ?

  68. Scottford Says:

This is what worked for me. I installed Windows Media Player 11 and got a data cable and did the following:

    1. Open Windows Media Player
    2. Switch to the “Sync” tab of the media player
    3. Connect the phone to the computer
    4. Open SCH-U740 in Landscape Mode
    5. Open the Menu on the phone
    6. Open “Get it Now”
    7. Select “Music and Tones”
    8. Select “Sync Music”

This synced my phone to the computer. I then was able to drag and drop songs from my WMP library to my phone. Be sure to hit the Sync button in the bottom right of the WMP after dragging and dropping. This worked for me. Good luck!!

  69. Sherrie Says:

  71. Fred Says:

The Battery and battery life in this product is exceptionally terrible. the reception in areas even when towers are available is horrible. i have never had so mant dropped calls or such lousy battery life with other cell phones. other than that, this phone does have a few options that are all right.

  72. P Says:

    Plug data cable into phone
    Plug usb into computer
    Goto: Menu>Get It Now> 1 Music & Tones> 6 Sync Music
Press OK on sync music, or just press 6

Find the phone through my computer, it should appear as a flash drive
open the music folder and copy music into it
if it works correctly the music will be in the “my music” menu under “music & tines”

  73. Pipstar Says:

thank you rob for the step-by-step. took me 2 hours to searching google to figure out what the hell to do!

  74. hellfire9 Says:

Ok all u have to do to get music to ur phone is go to the verizen store ask them for the music essentials kit for the samsung u740 theyll get its $30 but its worth it u get the usb cable, software, and a excellent pair of headphones. then buy a micro sd card and connect the usb cable to to music and tones and then sync music and then use windows media player go to the sync tab and drag and drop music to the sync tab. k works for me

  75. yz Says:

thx hellfire. but how to sync contact and calender?

  76. yo mama! Says:

    i want this phone…

  77. dam Says:

can you sync your outlook contacts to this phone??? If yes how???????????

  78. xo allison Says:

HOW DO YOU IMPORT PICS TO YOUR PC like 50 people asked and no one has awnsered them is it like imposible or some thing

  79. brandomb Says:

Well I know of one way to get your phone’s pictures from your phone to your PC (Mac in my case) using the MicroSD card. All you have to do is go to Get It Now, then Picture & Video, then My Pictures then with the picture highlighted choose Options, and then choose option #10 (Move) and you can move it to your SD card and then plug that into your computer and you should be able to transfer the pics right off the card. This does actually MOVE the files from your phone memory to your card though so if you want them back on your phone after you copy them over to your computer you will have to move them back to the phone memory.

**The Option for MOVE will only show up if you have an SD card in the phone**

  80. harris Says:

has anyone sucessfully used mp3’s as ringtones, or can only verizon users use the bitpim hack?

  81. Tony Says:

Are there any downloadable flash players compatible to this phone? What are the ways to watch or download video clips from the web such as youtube? VCAST videos are very limited or mostly for kids. Thank you.

  82. natasha Says:

i have the same problem as josmo.
after i charged my phone, the front screen just turned blank.
i turned it off and then turned it back on and that didn’t do anything.
    help would be wonderful!

  83. strightcountry Says:

i don’t thimk that you can use ur mp3s as a ringtone the file has to be shrunk down to fit. BUT DON’T STRESS there is a web sit that u can download to do this 4 u. u just have to have some music on ur pc. the place is myxertones. u can put wallpapers and ringtones on your u740 with it.

  84. garner49 Says:

I found a way to do the ring-tones, but want to delete some of them. Anyone know a way to delete a ring-tone???

    http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php

Go to the above link, type in what you want it to say (check your calendar, you have a new text message, etc…), choose the voice and then listen. If you want to send it to your phone, save it (be sure to change the name of the file or you’ll get this long junk [done that]. Send it as a pix (if you have this service), then save as a ring-tone but don’t select it. You can go in and choose it to match what you want it to.

  85. garner49 Says:

    Found it!!!!
Go to: Menu, Get It Now, Music and Tones, My Ringtones, highlight the ringtone you want to modify or delete, click the Options button and choose the option – can even rename.

Now if we can just find out how to ‘un-dumb’ the phone to unlock many of the features that Verizon locked out.

  86. ooppee Says:

ok apparently ill have to give some tops here.

The easiest way to get music onto your phone is via MicroSD card. Its simple once you get the hang of it.

1.) Insert card into laptop/computer it will normally auto-detect.
2.) Exit out of auto detect screen (this is to avoid confusion) and open my computer.
3.) You’ll find a MicroSD storage device. Format it first if you must. WARNING!!!! FORMATTING ERASES ALL DATA STORED ON THE CARD!!!
4.) Click the device and go to My MP3’s and minimize the screen.
5.) Next, locate the music you wanna add to the phone and drag it into the My MP3’s folder.
6.) Remove the card using the safe removal option at the lower right of your screen by the clock. Add to phone and use the MP3 Player function and there you go your done.

Now this is for advanced users only please do not mess around with this if your not trained or have any clue what CDMA is.

This is a hidden command line with which you can input CDMA commands. To stop command and script kiddies i wont go into detail on what they do but here’s how it is done.

    Enter this sequence: 47*68#13580
Now this will send you to the CDMA command prompt.
There is only a few ways to get out of this and they are to remove the battery and enter the command 002. Now all you CDMA newbies the most basic commands are three digits and start with 00 until of course they get into 010. Please and i am begging you, please do not randomly punch in numbers. A certian command will permantely erase all CDMA data and there is no hope for you. And Verizon will not be too happy to hear you have hacked into their CDMA command line.

Well all advanced users have fun and everyone else, i know your going to try just dont enter 025 or 0025 or 0035…

  87. ooppee Says:
