Samsung SGH-T729 aka. Samsung Blast is the world’s first slider phone that features a full QWERTY keyboard for faster typing and messaging experience. One will think that a cell phone with QWERTY keyboard is too thick, but this isn’t the case with Samsung Blast as it just measures barely half inch thick. However, other multimedia features don’t live up to its hype as this Samsung phone only comes with 1.3-MegaPixel digital camera and an MP3 player without play list feature. The lack of WiFi and PC synchronization features makes the Samsung SGH-T729 don’t appear attractive to mobile professionals. Other than that, if you are looking for an ultra-light cell phone for messaging or instant messaging, you got to put Samsung Blast slider phone in your list.

  10. Erica Says:

I thought this had the capability of receivng FM radio? It doesn’t say that in the specs….can you?

  11. ryan Says:

I Don’t think it has fm radio, at least, I haven’t seen it yet. (I’ve had the phone for a couple days)

  12. mike Says:

i had the phone for a few weeks now and i love it but the need to make headphone adapters for this phone……. abd there is no fm radio…. the key pad is the best but it does take a while to get used to

  13. Krista Says:

does anyone know how in the world to assign ringtones to text messages? i’ve looked all through the phone and owners manual and can’t seem to find a way to change my text message alert tone to something other than the preloaded tones the phone comes with…UGH!!!! can anyone help me out with this?

  14. bill Says:

i just got the phone yesterday. so far there is nothing wrong with it and the keypad only took about 5 minutes to get used to. its a great phone and its better than my sidekick id. also for the price it is probaly one of the best phones u can possibly buy.

  15. Curious G Says:

I had the phone since September..
    the phone has some faults
-they headphone adapter that i seen for it is bulky
-the phone would sometimes would make a weird noise when calling someone (the ringing sound)
-can ONLY change one the shortcut key
-the music player cant play all the songs on the playlist..you can only add 30 song per playlist (4 playist total)

    answers to your question
    -there is no fm radio
-you need a micro sd card to add music on the phone..or otherwise you can let someone send it to you through bluetooth.(but the internal memory is small)
-the keypad is good for texting (but if u need to call for ex. 1800 flowers..you cant because the letters are mixed up)

  16. Kyle Says:

Had it a few days now . . . missing my flip phone but am very happy with this one. Sound is a little muffled but acceptable.

Has a very handy name/number search feature that keeps you from having to scroll through your entire contacts list to find someone. It intuitively “searches” your contacts as you begin typing the name/number and in real time displays the matching results.

For those who say the keyboard is “all scrambled” . . . take a look at the computer keyboard in front of you. Look familiar? Samsung finally bucked the limitations of the standard 10# keypad for one that resembles a “QWERTY” keyboard.

    Overall a good buy.

  17. william123 Says:

i have the phone and its good i just want to know how to put free game on it and can u give me step on how to do it

  18. alex Says:

yea i need steps on install games on my samsung games

  19. Jessica Says:

I have been having trouble with my memory card. each time i go to a folder, when i go try to choose a different folder, i have to take the SD card out and put it back in.. it’s a pain in the butt. also in the middle of the night, it kept making a noise and the noise meant “memory card insterted”…”memory card removed”…..

  20. Pendleton Says:

    Jessica,
I just bought mine. me and my wife have the same issue. i returned it and got 2 new blast. same issue. that is 4 phones with the same stupid problem. need to know what the heck is going on????

  21. Vincent Says:

there was a lot of information to take in on this page….so therefore i dont know if anyone commented on the same difficulty i am experiencing??? i have had the blast for three months and i cannot get used to the keypad…..i would press the three buttons to create a word and it would only give me predicitve words for two buttons or characters…..i hate it…it is such a hassle and i know that i cant be the only one with this problem…especially since i am a huge texter

  22. Bridget Says:

I have the Blast. The only problems that I have so far have been trying to download music from my computer to the cell phone and T-Mobile in our area doesn’t give us good reception. Otherwise, everyone gives me very nice comments about the look of the phone. My teens say that it “goes hard.” LOL.

  23. aaron Says:

im having the same problem as jessica and pendleton… i cant figure it out. ive tried everything i can think of but it still wont work. it will play the songs from my memory card but only for a little while and then it says my memory card is empty until i turn my phone off or take out the memory card and put it back in. HELP?!

  24. Eder Says:

Jessica, Pendelton, and Aaron: Have you tried formating the card and make sure you insert the card correctly (it is a little tough)?

Vincent: Is this because you are in t9 mode maybe?

Does anyone know where I can get a headphone adapter for this?

  25. aaron Says:

yeah ive tried formatting it but it says “error” every time i try. maybe im not doin it right but i dont know what else to try..?

  26. Sharkdiver Says:

This phone rocks hard! For free ringtones take any mp3, edit the part of the song you want in a music editor like cool edit. Edit it to no more than 30 seconds. Save it in the music folder on your sd card and voilla! When you highlight the song file you have the option to apply it as your ringtone.

  27. joshB Says:

i have a microSD i just bought for my blast, and i put songs on the card but i can’t find the songs when i put it in my phone. they come up on the computer though. is there a certain way i need to put them on the card? HELP!!!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

  28. Nicole Says:

Where do you put the mircoSD?
    I am getting angry x)

  29. info Says:

    Nicole,
the microSD slot is at the bottom left side of the Blast phone.

    HandCellPhone.com

  30. Jeff Says:

I have successfully transferred all my old images/wallpapers/audio from my old razr via bluetooth connection.
i have figured out how to apply my audio files as ringtones but not as text message alerts.
if i can’t do this, im gonna return this phone. i would go insane listening to any of the preloaded bells and whistles 100 times a day.

    please help

  31. sid Says:

My phone is having the same issue as JoshB and others. Files in memory card are accessible some times and not accessible sometimes. Will try formatting it once again- but is there anyone who has overcome this problem 100%?

  32. Palani Says:

As Jessica, Pendelton, and Aaron reported mine also giving same problem. I don’t find format option in setting??
and i tried formating through Fun&Apps-Files-MemoryCard-MemoryCardInfo-Format. this also as soon as switch on the mobile I need to do, other wise I could not find this option. please help me if any one knows…

  33. Erica Says:

As far as your file smissing: you need to make sure they are formatted as an MP3 specifically – if you have it as any other type of file (.wav, etc) it will not recognize them. I found the best thing to do was to insert the card into the phone first so it formats the card for you, then load all your songs into your music folder. If you need to format it, I believe you just get a Micro SD card reader to insert into your computer and format it that way – or you can unload all the music you have on there, then load it into the phone & play around a minute or so, then try again…that worked for me.

  34. Oscar Batres Says:

I have a problem playing Videos, I can view the ones I recorded but the ones I have in my memory card I can’t see….I transfer one of the videos via bluetooth and he was able to watch it on his phone (New Razor)and I can’t see them and is driving me insane that he can see it and I don’t…..and they are the right format (3gp)can some one help me please

  35. jenny Says:

  36. nick Says:

hey guys i have a question i just bought it yesterday and i would love to know how to pt music onto the phone do i need to buy something? HELP????

  37. Matt Says:

The problem I’m having with the phone is trying to play any of my previous ring tones from my Nokia, some are actual ringtones I bought from Tmobile. It says content unavailable. Also when I play and mp3 from my sd card, I can only hear them if I pug in the headset, is there any way around it? Please let me know

  38. jonathan Says:

im having the same problem with my memory card ive went through 2 blast and 3 memory cards and im still having the same problem my wife has the blast and same memory card and she has no problem if i could get this to work i would like the phone but rite now im not to pleased

  39. Brandon Says:

had the phone for just under a week now and it seems to be a pretty sleek phone. The only complaints I have about it would be the battery life. I text ALOT so Im thinking that would have something to do with it but it doesnt last near as long as my last slider. The email only works for select services… I only have hotmail and cant use the email part of the phone because it isnt provided.

I cant understand why T-mobile has a quadband phone if they are only a triband company…?

I like the texting, qwerty takes some getting used to but its good. Buttons are alittle small for my fingers (have average sized hands) and always push two buttons at once. I still havent figured out how to add words to the dictionary besides typing them out letter by letter and deleting the spaces afterwords…

The display is clean and sharp.
No problems with the memory card, camera or video.

Audio is great but I HATE that I cant change the message tones… They are all gay…. Im looking up a way to change them but idk if I will be able to with out hacking the phone.

  40. makayla Says:

hey i was wodering if there is another program besides cool edit that i can use

  41. The Empire Says:

Hey I firgured out the real way to add music to the memory card-
-First off the files WMA and some MP3 dont work so the best way to add music to the memory card is to get iTunes if u dont have it, then add ure music to iTunes and Highlight all ure music and press ‘Convert Selection to AAC’.
-Find all the AAC copies of ure music and delete the rest
-open ure blast music folder and finally drag ure AAC files to it and none of ure music will drop.
-As far as the problem with the memory card being full sometimes and sometimes not when you go back in… I just dont know

  42. soccer playa Says:

i luv thia phone ane everything but i dont know how to add music and can u make the music ur ringtone

  43. Pinche Mayate Says:

After adding songs to the microSD, I noticed the songs wouldn’t show up in the phone. I fixed the problem by renaming the song/file with a short file name. This phone does not like long file names, spaces or special characters. Keep the file name short and simple, it worked for me. Hope this helps…

  44. Shana Says:

    Thankss a lot Pinch Mayate.
iFinally conquered the missing music files problem.

  48. lee Says:

HELP!!! okay so i have a bunch of songs in my music player. i want to set one of them as my ring tone SO i go to settings, then sound settings, click incoming call, then my current ring tone, it takes me to default melodies so i press the right (right as in right vs. left) button till i get to music. 51. Bruce Says:

Has anyone had any problems with the Samsung PC Syncronization 3 software when importing the Microsoft XP Professional Edition; Outlook 2003 calendar? All of the recurring calendar events created in the past all show on my phone scheduled four hours later than they are actually scheduled. I’ve tried forcing the synchronization so that all of the calendar items are deleted on the phone before all of the calendar events are imported from the PC and the same thing happens every time. I’ve managed to work through a level 2 customer support specialist at Samsung and I gave up waiting for over an hour on the telephone for a level 3 support. This problem never happened with my SOny Ericsson mobile phone and PC synchronization software. I’ve also created new calendar events for today and when it was imported to my T729, the same thing happened to the start and stop time, it showed on my phone as taking place four hours later than its actually scheduled. Also tried setting the world clock to the same time zone as my own and no luck changing the four hour delay problem.

  52. Kristow4 Says:

I have had this phone for 2 years. I have used the Samsung PC Syncronization 3 software for some time through a Belkin Bluetooth adapter. It has been a really good phone for me.

If anyone needs help, you can email me: Kristow4@hotmail.com

  53. CollegeGirl8907 Says:

I loved the phone when I first got it now it is turing into a piece of crap I have sent it back 2 times and the replacements are worse than the original

  54. uhhh? Says:

i have this fone but i dont noe wat it means where it says software update
    need help plz repli

  55. Jason Says:

Um lee go to your memory card click options = set as= ringtone and that should do it

  56. Sherry Says:

How do I get music on my phone with the usb cable? All it wants to do is charge the phone.

  57. Anthony Says:

Well, from coming from an iPhone, this is certianly different… the keyboard is a little cubersome, but is manageable. SD support is nice, wish iPhone had that. For a basic (non-”smart”) phone this is not bad, it’s acceptable by all means. screen is not bad, camera is better than my iPhone’s. In the end this is not a bad phone for basic calling and texting features, and is still a pretty nice phone to carry around.

  58. malcolm Says:

can someone tell me why all of a sudden my screen just fades to white

  59. malcolm Says:

can someone tell me why my phone screen just fades to white

  60. Michael Says:

I guess I have the newer blast, because it has playlists. One thing I o not like about any Samsung phone is that it is a pain to get head phones for it. Its crazy. I did get a pair with my mother’s phone, but they suck. I probably wont go Samsung again. Nokia is at least headphone jack compatible.

  61. ty Says:

screen turn wite go get new fone
    no txt for music
ringtones can be set for ur music
not best fone taken it in times
um prob is only no music for txts
