Samsung officially announced a candy-bar shaped rugged phone named Samsung Solid Extreme in UK. Like Samsung Rugby, a flip style rugged phone released in 2008, the Samsung Solid Extreme phone is certified to Military Standard MIL-STD 810F standards. It has regular temperature insulation, dust and water resistance and protection from drops of up to 2m.

Features of the phone include a built-in 1.3-megapixel digital camera, MP3 music player, video player, FM Radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and a microSD memory expansion slot.
