Sharp System LCD

Sharp announced her newly invented System LCD equipped with touch screen and scanner functions. On each pixel of the new Sharp’s LCD, there is an optical sensor built-in. Because of that, the conventional methods (laminating or bonding a film on top of the LCD panel) are avoided, and thus, the LCD screen doesn’t suffer lost of display image quality and increased thickness.

With the new Sharp’s LCD technology, users can do the fancy tapping and flipping on the screen just like on iPhone, plus you could scan in a business card placed on top of the screen. Besides that, further improvements to the scanner function are expected to enable fingerprint authentication in the future.

Mass production of this System LCD will begin in next spring
