April 18, 2008- Most people believe that the mobile industry is the most dynamic business in the world. However, there are several things that are holding the mobile industry back from actually being as successful as it could potentially be. Specifically, there are 10 taboos that, if conquered, would allow users to receive more from their service than they are currently getting. Of course, identifying a problem is the first step to conquering it, so perhaps the realization of what is holding us back is the first steps in the direction of unleashing the true potentials of mobile services. It has actually even been said that involvement in the mobile industry is a sure way to lose money… but it does not have to be that way.

Researchers who have been studying these trends have offered several suggestions. For instance, those who are developing, marketing, and selling mobile services need to be more creative in the futures. That is, new services besides standard features could the key to new interest customers. Users want more than ringtones, logs, and games. It is time for new and innovative applications. The new services generated would then lead to more customers interested in more services rather than the same old standard services. Users would start using their mobile devices for more than just phone calls and text messages.

Mobile broadband is also an issue. With more and more people using broadband services on their cell phones, marketers need to stop talking about the fact that problems may be faced in the future and actually start planning what they will do when the time comes. More and more users are also using their handset for making mobile payments. The problem here is that researchers fear service providers think they will make amazing profits from offering this service… they will not.

There are several other concerns researchers have about the future of the mobile market. For more information about these concerns and a complete list of the top 10 taboos facing the mobile industry, please follow the link below.
