Sprint is in financial trouble and the word is getting out. It is possible that with all the problems sprint is having that they may be subject to a buyout in the near future. T-Mobile’s parent company Deutsche Telekom could possibly become the new owner of Sprint sometime in the months or years to come. In the case of a price war between companies such as Sprint and T-Mobile, this could be the result. Sprint has already tried to undercut the competition with price cuts, trying to please new customers so they’ll stay… but things are not looking too good.
In a money crunch T-Mobile would be under pressure to act. With the increased urgency to think fast and act quicker, a buyout may be the option of choice.
Other rumors about the struggling company include the idea that Sprint Nextel may be letting go of Nextel in the future. Once this bit of business is completed, there is talk of a Nextel spin off as well. In fact, rumors are also flying that it might actually be in the best interest of Sprint to go ahead and drop Nextel. Sprint has been having a lot of business trouble trying to work out certain aspects of Nextel and they may be better off to just cut their losses and get rid of them.
There has also been talk that Sprint has hired new people to plan the spin off Nextel and the announcement could come in as little as a few weeks.
