Verizon Wireless invited journalist to iPhone launch event Tuesday in New York City, a person familiar with the matter said Friday. It is expected that Verizon Wireless will officially launch the world’s most popular smartphone in the event. To prepare for the fight, AT&T wireless today slashed the price of iPhone 3GS to $50 from $100, in order to get more customers lock into two-year contract agreements.
