SMT5800 Smartphone

After a long season of speculation, the SMT5800 Smartphone is finally coming stateside with Verizon Wireless. Its first mention was leaked in December of 2006, and now, 14 months later, Verizon has announced that the stylish phone is now offered to its online costumers and will hit its brick and mortar stores on January 21st.

The SMT5800 is a cross between a messaging device and a Smartphone. It boasts a full clamshell sliding QWERTY keyboard along with a standard mobile keypad, offering users both simplicity and functionality-the best of both worlds. It comes with Windows Mobile 6 standard, allowing the technologically enthused to have access and edit their Microsoft Word and Excel documents, as well as the ability to view PowerPoint Presentations and PDF documents.

Not too shabby Verizon…

The phone features a 2.4 inch screen, with a weight of 4.2 oz. Combine the weight with a 0.7″ thickness, and you come up with a bit of a chunk. Don’t worry; we are more than willing to forgive the SMT5800, given its other graces. Fit in that slightly pudgy frame is a 2.0 megapixel camera with video capabilities, Bluetooth 2.0, and the ability to add up to 8 GB of memory through the expandable microSD slot.
In summary, the Verizon Wireless SMT5800 is a phone that deserves its spot in the Verizon Wireless lineup. It packs all of the standard features of a Smartphone into the body of a simple handheld cell. Impressive Verizon-you’ve made us proud with this one.
