Vodafone Goes Green!

Vodafone is taking an active part in the “Go Green” efforts that are spreading like wild fire. Their goal for the future is to cut their CO2 emissions in half within the next 12 years. They are also taking steps to help their users reduce their own emissions as well. In order to accomplish their goal, Vodafone plans to increase energy efficiency, increase use of renewable energy sources, and educate users on how to cut emissions. Not only will these changes be good for the environment, but they will also be good for business in general. Increasing energy efficiency will also work to cut costs for everyone. Some specific steps that Vodafone plans to make include development of a solar-powered cell phones as well as universal chargers for mobile devices, eliminating the need for production of various different models.
Vodafone has decided that the more efficient and effective way to control their emissions is to cut them out all together. Since 80% of Vodafone’s emissions come from production and operation, this is where the changes will be implemented, including changing over to reusable sources of power. Vodafone is taking an active step toward “go green” efforts that is especially important for them since their energy consumption, and likewise their emissions, has been gradually increasing since the 2006/2007 fiscal year.
The next few yeas will be the most important for Vodafone in their efforts to “go green.” What they accomplish in the next three years will ultimately determine their overall success goal in 2020.
