The data plan can be canceled after 6 months. Every carrier in US include data plan for PDA phones. The reason is without data plan, some features of PDA phones (Samsung Epix for this case), such as email / Internet browsing won’t not work. However, at HandCellPhone.com, you’re welcome to cancel the data plan after 6 months. Thanks.

I’ve been doing some research on the subject of unneccessary data plans, and in fact not all carriers require it. Verizon requires it on all smartphones, but AT&T only requires it on the iPhone. Any other smartphone(including this one) from AT&T does not require the data plan to be purchased. Of course, buying it from AT&T directly does seem to cost a little more money upfront. LetsTalk.com has this phone for free with a new AT&T account, but requires the plan to be $60 or more per month to qualify for the rebate. Which is the lesser of three evils, I cannot say
After adding this phone to the shopping cart, I went to try to change the data plan. It stated “Data may be required with purchase of your phone. If so, you must maintain one of the data features listed below for six months.”
So is it three months or six months?

No matter which carrier you are with, subscriber is required to pay extra for Internet connection. The cheapest Internet package (Data Plan) that we can find is from T-Mobile. You might want to consider T-Mobile phones offers here.
