Address Book Problem

I just got a new curve 8900 and transferred my contacts from my old pearl 8110 to my MAC address book and then using "pocket mac" I did a sync with the new 8900. Some of the contacts are now "read only" files - I cannot edit or delete them. When I tell pocket mac to "override the device" the read only files stay exactly as is. When I try to edit them I get a message that they were added externally and cannot be altered. I have fixed my contacts by having duplicates of the ones that I cannot edit, but now I would like to delete the "bad" copies of the the duplicate ones and the phone won't delete them? How do I fix this
