LG Dare (VX9700) Does any know if and when bit pim will support the LG Dare.
I would love to modify my mp3's for ringtones.

you have to configure the program to recognize a vx 9100 instead, then browse for ports, and I think it comes up as COM2 on mine, but select the serial usb port. Then click the file button in the 2 column, then brew, then mod, and i think ringtones are the first or second folder, one of them will have a subfolder named 'ringtones'

You can txt mp3 files modified to be ringtone size to yourself then save them as ringtones.
Has anyone noticed that when using shuffle and have more then 300 songs that the songs in the lower alphabet don't play?

It is even easier than all of this friends. If it is just ringtones you want. You can do so for free and have them sent to your phone as a text or pix message, then turn around and save them as a sound and assign that sound as a ringtone. phonezoo.com

Has anyone had a problem that when they try to change any display settings, the phones shuts off?

no but if i go to my inbox and sort the messages by sender then hit the search bar at the top, as soon as i try to type a letter my phone just cuts off...and if i go to the messages and i want to go to the bottom(the quickest way being to look at your most recent message and go to the left) and i scroll to fast or do the aforementioned thing it just cuts off...and looking through my pictues too fast does it too. The verizon store suggested removing my battery once a week for about five to ten minutes to give the "smart" phone time to reset and rest. sometimes this helps and sometimes it doesn't

There is a Blurry rectangle in the middle of the screen that pops up every now and then. It just started happening all of the sudden about 2 days ago and it never was around anything like water, or anything unusual? ANyone have this happen to them?

Yea they have the latest version out and it works great i use it all the time have fun using it but be careful not to void ur phones waranty. always make back ups when deleting something of your phone.

The phone comes with a USB cable. You're gonna need that.
1. Download Audacity.
2. It's gonna have to you download a file named: lame_enc.dll. download that.
3. When finished, go to audacity and cut out no more than 30 seconds of the song you want.
4. Save it as an MP3.
5. Hook your phone up to the computer.
6. Go to Tools>>USB mass storage
7. Open the folder that appears on your screen.
8. Go to sounds.
9. Drag the MP3 into my sounds.
10. Send the sound to yourself.
11. Save it as a ringtone.

This works so well! The only limit is the number of sounds you can send to yourself and save as ringtones due to the 147.6 MB physical phone memory.
E-mailing the sound to your phone works too. Just save it as a ringtone.

The new lg dare has had a software "update" that now removes the ability to save sounds as ring tones... new lg dare's. just got mine jan 3rd 2009.
any ideas?

no it doesnt. i got mine on the 9th and i can save them as ringtones. they have to be less than 30 seconds long

i just got this phone and had it flashed to my serivce provider. everything seems to work ok but i can not download anything from the web nor save anything like pics. is this the way this phone is? ...... By the way if you want to add pics or ring tones to your lg all you need is a bluetooth connection between your phone and computer. although i am still unable to move pics from my phone to computer (not talking about viewing them i can still do that). anyone know how to take the block off my phone so i can download apps/pics?

I have shrunk mp3's to 30 seconds and sent them through email to be received as pix txts. This has worked, the txts would open with the attached mp3 playing and I would save it as my ringtone. But for some unknown reason, new txt's with mp3's open with the attachment as mp4's. Can anyone help me?

i had a problem with my dare where when i would try to go to my display settings and it would just shut off. I also had no time or date shown on my screen durring this problem. What worked for me and fixed my phone was to go to the phone settings then go to security next you go to reset phone. when your phone resets to the origional settings it will shut off and turn back on. when it turns back on the problem should be gone. i imagine when this happens when trying to open any portion of the phone a reset should work

Carefull which reset option you choose because there is "reset Default" and "restore phone". Reset defaults will do just that, bring all phone settings back to factory default and WILL NOT erase your phone media etc... RESTORE PHONE will completely wipe everything off your phone like it was in a store display case. Just want to clarify so no one looses everything.

Yes, I am too. I am on my third dare and it keeps randomly going to that screen with the small folders and "Whats New" at the bottom. Have you found an answer yet? burk0991@gmail.com

im gonna show you easy steps on how to put ringtones on your new lg dare with telus.
1-first of all download the lg dare driver(verizon or telus version works)
2-download bitpim (search up bitpim on google will find millions of sites)
3-open the lg dare an go to setting/memory/usb mass storage an select manual/
4-download any song
5-open up bitpim
6-go to setting an manual select lg vx9700(dare) then close the setting
7 go to file system /brew/mod and select ringtone
8-now go to ringers at the top
9-click the add ringer sign
10-select any song
12-then put sample rate to 48000
13-then put bitrate to 32
14-then press convert
15-give it sometime wait until the second black screen(terminal) shows up
16-then change volume adjustment from 0.0 to 6.0 because it makes the ringtone louder an clear.
17-then set the pink marker an the red marker to become at least 30 second length ringtone the pink marker is the start of the ringtone an the red marker is end of the ringtone.( the ringtone has to be 30-less in order to work)
18- then press play clip to see if you like your ringtone
19- after your done press ok
20-move your ringtone to a file on you desktop somewhere you can quickly find it
21-go back to the file system(step 7) an move your ringtone(step 20) to the ringers folder in step number 7
22-click on the cell phone image on the top that(right one)
23-check of ringtones
24-click ok
25-your lg dare should rest
26- go to your ringers folder and it should be there with a red marker instead of green.
this works for sure

Hey. I have an lg dare with telus and NOTHING works to download free ringtones on it. I tried bitpim and it WIL>L NOT detect my phone - no idea why. This is so frustrating. ANy suggestions/ideas?

hey man..i did everything that u wrote in here and it actually worked and added the song i want as a ringtone but then when i try and set it as my ringtone on the phone it tells me NON-DRM protected file! and doesnt allow me to make it my ringtone....do u know how i can solve this?? you can reply back to me at my email : aminmarco@hotmail.com

dude, i got till #6 and bitpim failed to detect at #7. when you expand the menu, it tries to detect the phone and gives an error.

I just got my phone today... and the people I bought it off of said that there was a setting that they cant find that is not allowing me to press any buttons but the end call one while im in a conversation.. The whole screen shuts off. When I end the call.. the screen comes back on. I can't get to my voicemail because i cant enter my password. Anyone have this problem? Even The Telus techs couldnt help!

Try going to tools and scroll all the way down to USB mass storage and wait till it connects and then find the Disk label E: and goin into your folder using browser or Windows Media Player.

Kittie, I use a program called tonethis, its free and you can take any mps, or cd you have and edit it to be a ringtone, with your phone modle and your number you can receive the new ringtone as a emailed text and openikt and save to ringtones, that should help you.

my phone is stuck in an endless loop is there any way to "reset phone" to factoy reset w/o it being bootable i can get to the Charge screen and the Emerg. screen but normal boot locks up or Loops
