GPS Navigation screen freezes

My phone worked fine for the first 8 months. All the applications worked correctly especially my GPS which I used all the time. Now all of a sudden whenever I try to use mu GPS the screen flashes like it's going to turn off then goes to a dim screen, then brighten and freezes and I can't select anything on the screen, even the phone itself freezes for a minute. Then a messages comes on saying "Entering Sprint service area" and then screen un freezes and the phone starts working again. So frustrating!! Has anyone had this problem? How can I fix it?? Please help me!

ya i have had that as well, mine occurs when on the web browser, and sometimes when replying to a text msg. Also has anyone recieved a text,had it go to like "missed events" and when that happens tells you someone COMPLETELY different texted you then the actually sender??? For ex, it will say my friend Kevin has texted on a missed event, but when i open it up its from my fiancee.... 2 INSTINCTS i have had done all of the above that I mentioned....

My GPS was freezing as well, screen flashed and freez... I went to "Live Search" looked for a busines (any, like walmart) and then on the serach results select one and click onj the little "car icon"... this will take you to the GPS and resolve the problem... did it for me, thanks

I have contacted Sprint about this issue on three different occasions (hours on hold) and was told I would need to reset my phone to factory settings (losing e-mail settings, contacts, favorites, etc). My boss was having the same problem so I called again tonight to see if they had the software update yet. They kept blaming it on Samsung and Telenav and telling me once again the only way to correct it until the update came out was to reset my phone to factory settings. I refused to reset my phone, demanded to speak to a supervisor and after they put in a trouble ticket, I found this website. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

THANK YOU!!! I started having this problem a couple of weeks ago when I was lost trying to find a friend's house (GPS in the car was telling me the address didn't exist, so I tried to use my phone's GPS as a backup, just to have this happen) and it was positively maddening. I was afraid I'd have to do a factory restore too. I did a Google search for "Samsung Instinct GPS freezes" and came across this site. DQ, just consider me among your legion of loyal fans now.
