ive had a rival for almost six months now, and had no problems except for the occasional vibrating that dont stop.
but now when i go to my pictures, it shows this green picture of a paper in half or something and its just like my last six pictures i took. and i cant erase it or anything.
i dont know whats happening?
has anyone else had this problem,
and how did you fix it?

i have no idea how to fix it... my pictures are fine except sometimes when i get a text or call from someone their id picture will show up green like you said, and then it'll just stop showing everyone's picture altogether or just certain people's. i've had this phone for 4 months and it's doing that now, this is like the 3rd time. i didn't know how to fix it before and it just started working again on it's own. the biggest problem is sometimes while i'm texting the phone will do that little vibrate like i touched something on the screen and it'll send or cancel my message or something completely random will pop up when i haven't even touched the screen, all i was doing was typing. it starts doing that like crazy sometimes where i can't even send a text and then it'll just stop...

my stupid Rival won't let me send texts because it says that the memories full even though i deleted everything i could of the phone. the phone itself even says that i have 141.12Mb of memory available. i cant recieve or send texts, anyone know how to fix that?

That is a software problem with the phone. I was thinking about purchasing one, and when I got to the store to buy it the associate told me that this is a reacurring problem for motorola rival users. Keep in touch with telus or motorola for when they release a software update to fix your problem. Last I heard, they were planning on releasing a solution for the problem by the end of December.

I had this same problem in the past and couldn't find assistance anywhere. I had to take it to my service provider and they send it in to be fixed. I thought it was working fine and now just a few weeks later the same problem has happened :( Still don't know how to fix it myself

the early motarola rival i e the first ones to come out have program errors when you erase a msg it owly erases the heading but it still exists in your phone and there is no way to accsess those msg's or fully erase take it to a sorce store and they will have a program called motarola program/driver instalation and on this program you can update or uninstall and reinstall all the drivers in your phone they sould do this for free i work in a sorce store and i own that phone it worked for a while untill i started gettin static like on a tv and the screen looked like it was melting now the screen is white iv rebuilt this phone 3 time since it went white the first time was a sucess then it was in and out now its just white and im looking for a sulution

Call the verizon customer serviace ppl, thats what I did and the gave me a nice reconditioned 1, but now the reconditioned 1s screen just went all white =(

That happed to me butt i had to take my battery out and then it worked perfectly fine..I just had to take precautions like subscribing to backup assistant and saving y photos and etc. onto my memory card...I had mines for eight months

My son's phone did that and we had to send it back, then 1 month later, my daughters phone turned white and we sent hers back for a replacement. Now a month later, her phone did it again.

well i sent my rival back to Verizon..... they said the phone had a software error... everything u said about the messages and green screen means that eventually the whole phone will spazz out and ur phone will show different colors on everything and eventually it will just be a white screen that will then shut down and never turn back on... i hate my rival i can say that its a good phone just has to many software problems

My screen goes black too! I open and close it hard and it'll come back for a little while. That's probably messing it up more but I need my phone... I think I'm just going to buy a different phone. It's a great concept just a sucky phone. They should fix it.

Guys i have had just about all the problems listed above - working on my second refurb phone - the all had the same problem - screen starts freaking out with and then finally goes to a white screen - and done not come back - this really is anoying - juat activated my 3ed phone yesterday, and hopefully this on last longer then 3-6 months.

I got the 3rd Rival and its not working right - Getting my 4th referb today. This one like to go into "Cool Down mode" for No Reason and then disconnect me from phone calls and restart.

I got my phone as a replacement from an extended warranty on a phone that was permanently broken. I've only had it for 8 days and it is already like hell. It randomly restarts itself, often when I'm not using it at all and sometimes when I am looking at pictures or sending text messages. (It mercifully hasn't done it yet while in a phone call). I already had it replaced (earlier today) and my new one is.... duh duh duh.... doing THE SAME THING. Why are they selling a totally busted ass phone for $300. That is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

Motorola Rival is a very bad phone. The only good Motorola phone that I knew in my recent memory is Motorola Droid. Maybe, you should try to exchange it.

ive had this phone for like a month now and since the first day i got it its been fucking up.
and now its not letting me send or recieve text messages because apparently my memory is full.
and it turns on and off by itself.
and it sends text messages by itself.
and it vibrates for no reason.

I think everyone on here got the phone around the same time as me or a little later...my phone seem fine except weird things like it shutting off and I assume mabye the battery was low but it shut off when it was charging..now it just shut off completely and that means I assume I have to get a new one...I don't think I want a new one...I want a different phone.

Right now my rival's screen is like totally screwed up.......it's like changing from black to grey to white.......but when my phone was working it did the same thing!!!! It is typical..........I wouldn't say that I want a new phone because the rival works great! Sort of. I'm on my third Rival. I got my first in July, after a month or so it starting restarting on its own when I opened it or closed it. Verizon replaced it free of charge. The second one began doing the same thing. When I called Verizon to see about getting a different phone model they said it was highly unlikely that it was having the same problem twice and they would send me another Rival. When I asked what would happen if the new phone started giving me the same problem they said (once again) that it would be highly unlikely but after three replacements they "might" see about getting me a different model all together. They also told me there are no known problems with the phone...right...

I just recieved this phone today as a gift and already it's not letting me send a text message after every third or so sucessfully sent. For instance, I can send about 3 messages then it will tell me that the sending has failed. After reading the ongoing list of problems here it looks like I don't have a great future with this phone approaching and I think I should have read up on this thing before I dug myself into a hole.
