-3 votes LG 9700 Dare
I have had my Verizon Dare since it came out a week or so ago. I "LOVE" this phone. I had a iPhone which I also loved, however where I live Verizon is the ony service available. I tried the LG Voyager (3) of them in 6 months, they kept locking up, (problem phone!) I also tried the Glide, if you have cold hands the phone won't work, the touch screen works off of the heat in your fingertips not actual pressure. The Dare is a very nice phone for someone looking for an iPhone want-a-be.

I'm on my 2nd Dare. Is anyone having problems with cutting out and echoing? It also is horrible with my car's bluetooth.
-1 votes crap hpone
I too have problems with cutting out and warbled sound. Add to that no way to add my own ringtones, included software doesn't work, 3G is slow and crap, hand-writing is worthless, no way to customize main menu icons et. etc. and I think you get the picture.
-3 votes
You can add ringtones by downloading bitpim. It allows you to drag and drop the song under the ringer tab. Then convert it. Once it is converted the you can make a 20 sec. ringtone. Make sure to keep your bitrate at 48 cuz any thing higher makes a larger file. I found that if you keep the file size to about 124kb you will have no problems.

Where exactly do i download? what is the program called?

how do u get bitrate??????
And does it cost any thing if so how much
-2 votes Dare Ringtones
You can put ringtones on a dare by Saving it as a sound first... Then send it thru a text back to yourself and when you open text and it plays hit options and pick save as a ringtone.... Very easy.. Ive already added about twenty

-3 votes Making your own Ringtones on the LG-Dare!!
You can get New ringtones on your phone by editing your own mp3's on a pc, or going online and finding some for free(they are everywhere). You then add it to a PIC message and send it to yourself. save the sound as a ringtone. Works great!!
-4 votes
As long as you have txting enabled you can just pop the mp3 you edited first on my pc into the sounds folder then txt it to yourself. There you will see the save as ringtone option. Hope that helps you out.

Just got the Dare a few days ago. Experiencing cut out and an echo, and white noise on the Bluetooth. Did you find a solution to your problems?
Help--really like the phone--just want to be able to use it!

best thing to do is lower the volume on the phone that should help

I changed from a LG VX8700 (which I loved) to the LG Dare because of known Bluetooth issues.
I have also experienced the same Bluetooth problems described by others with the Dare. I had the same problems with the original new one as well as a factory replacement and a brand new LG Dare from Verizon which I received today. I have a total of 8 different Bluetooth headsets both digital and analogue as well as A2DP stero and the problem is the same with all of them. Before you ask why does he have eight Bluetooth headsets, I was in the business for a long time.
In talking with the Verizon technicians as well as the Plantronics engineering department they have both been able to replicate the problem.
So it seems that LG has a Bluetooth problem in general or rather a problem in adhering to the Bluetooth standard.

i own a jawbone bluetooth headset and have never had a problem with any noise, maybe the noise is from crappy bluetooth headsets. the only problem i have with the dare is that sometimes the qwerty keyboard doesn't always type when i hit a button.
-3 votes Blue tooth problem
Turn down the phone volume it should fix your echo problem

It used to be fine with my car's bluetooth rig, now it only lasts about a minute before becoming predictably unintelligible.

-4 votes Battery Life
I absolutely love this phone. I slept with it the first three nights but I have a question? Does it seem like the battery runs down quick and should the wall paper be in motion while the phone is charging. I am thinking that might be taking some of the phones battery life. Any thoughts anyone?
-2 votes i do
turn it off while charging it. lol
-5 votes lg dare battery/charge screen
if you go to the settings/tools menu, select display, select charge screen, you can select the clock or calendar and after 30 seconds of the phone either being plugged in or being used, it goes back to whichever you selected. i have mine set on the clock and if your phone is in the plastic holster, swivel the clip in the 6 oclock position(upside down) and the phone will stand up on your nightstand, makes a really cool "old school" clock!

Funny - I just got mine last thurs day - charged it at night and didn't have to charge it until sunday night (finally went to low battery). The whole weekend i was operating on 2-3 bat bars.
-3 votes
you can turn the background off when the phone is charging. and yes motion backgrounds will slowly kill your battery, as far as having to turn it off, i normally charge my dare every 3 days. charging every night can very quickly kill your battery.
-3 votes Sweet
A very impressive phone. Have had this phone for over a week and no problems so far.
Calls are clear both ways, I actually get more bars than some phones that have antennas.
Music player is great and so easy to copy songs over using the "USB Mass Storage" option in Tools.
The touch screen is pressure sensitive, which works okay.
The hardest part is the full virtual keyboard for my stubby thumbs, but getting used to it.
Bluetooth is no problem for me, I only use it for headset in car, not transfers.
-4 votes LG DARE
I've had the dare for about a week with no problems. The sound quality from the handset and bluetooth headset are both excellent. the keyboard is a bit awkwerd to use and often the wrong key gets pressed, however i have found a solution for that in useing a stylis instead of actually useing my fingers. i found the Nintendo DS stylis's to work quite well and are reasonably inexpensive and available at many stores that sell nintendo equipment such as walmart
-3 votes No remorse... love the phone
First, love the phone.
Second, yea, battery life is only so-so, but not so bad that it is an issue.
Third, here's the quick run through...
Camera and video are great. Love the quality. The editing is kind of silly, but it did come in handy once.
Customizing is fun, especially setting up favorites.
I changed from a "white" format to a "black" and like it much more. Wallpapers, etc. are easy to upload.
Oh, I bought a 4GB Micro HD/SD card on Ebay for USD $17. Great deal.
I put on a bunch of ring tones (use audacity (free), 30 seconds mp3 clips, set to project rate of 11025 Hz on the bottom left hand corner of the program, and export to you Micro SD card. Then attach it as a sound and send it to yourself and then save as a ring tone when the msg arrives).
Really wish there were more games for the phone. I bought Bejewled, but would love a nice poker game and Tiger Woods golf, etc.
Bottom line, great, fun, sexy phone.
No regrets at all.
PS Wife and kid got the Env2 and love those too.
-4 votes display problems
After you made your ring tones did you have a problem with the phone resetting when you hit the display setting in tools and setting? I reset it back to factory lost all my ring tones but have them saved on my computer. Anyway i was just wondering if you ran into that problem?
-3 votes How to remove saved ringtone
HI
Could you tell me how to remove saved ringtone?
THank you.
-1 votes Go to media center > Music
Go to media center > Music and Tones > My Ring tones > click on the ring tone you downloaded that you want to delete. You cannot however delete the factory installed ring tones.
-4 votes Problem with the Dare
I got the phone near 6 O'clock one Sunday. Three hours after, I was talking to technical support. The phone would not respond to touch whatsoever and they could not help me. I was advised to take it back for a new one. I am in the medical profession and need a phone, but here I am without one. This is scary. I hope that this is not a promise of things to come.I had worse problems with a Palm 700 before and had to take it back. I hope I do not have to do the same.
-1 votes Try Calibrating
Try calibrating the touch screen, it could be off set or something.
-2 votes problems with display setting
Ive had the phone for 2 weeks and its my second one. For some reason after a couple days i cant change the display setting the phone restarts. I dont know if its from all the ringtones i made or what. I had to reset it like 15 times in order to change my display setting. Yes im a big computer and phone hacker but the phone should handle it. Anyone else have this display issue?
-3 votes Also having display problem
I am having the same problem with the display setting. I noticed on the main screen that the time/date disappeared and when I try going into the display setting it restarts. What did you do to fix the problem, just restore the phone back to factory settings? When you do that do you lose ringtones/messages/phonebook/etc.?
-3 votes
Yes, I am having problems with my display settings, what did you do to reset?
-4 votes Great Phone
I got the dare the day it came out & love it!!!!
Out of all the great features the only part that I think was stupid was not adding a stylus. I believe ANY phone that is all touch should have another choice other than your fingers to use, but I jus bought one online and waiting for it to come in. I believe once that comes I will be set and loving my phone for as long as I gotta keep it. I must say, it's nothing like the Iphone, but hey why switch another service jus 2 get a phone, all services come out w/something like the others n that's why I stayed cuz I figured one will come somewhat like it&da Dare is it.
I had the Voyager&besides having a external keyboard I would give the Dare to be better, jus sleeker, and smaller.
-3 votes LG dare review
the LG dare's unique design and its compact multi touch user interface makes it the best smart phone by Verizon that i've used. Its 3.2 megapixel camera is perfect for taking pictures and its multimedia capabilities make this by far the most amazing LG phone yet, not to mention it has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and is compatible with up to 8 gigabytes of SD memory. I highly recommend this phone for anybody who has a choice between the iphone, glyde, dare or voyager.
-5 votes positive review from a Palm PDA phone addict
I have been a Palm user for 10 years, and thought I'd never be able to give it up. My last phone was a Treo 650, which was fine in most regards. I live in an area where Verizon is really the only sensible choice, and have wished an iPhone was a viable option for me as I have a 100-percent-Mac business and home. I need my phone to be able to set appointments easily and remind me when I should be heading to them, and I do quite a bit of texting. I told myself, if I changed platforms, that I'd be able to stand the loss of the Palm functionality if I could get a decent camera (with a flash) in my phone. I enjoy the Dare's still and video capability (it's still a phone camera, but definitely tries hard to be decent).
It's been a month or so, and I really like my Dare. I think the only thing I miss, all in all, is the searchable Bible that I had on my Palm phone. It seems like Verizon's stranglehold on 3rd-party development puts a big damper on my options.

I have had the dare for three days and had to post a review. I have never been so excited about a phone to take this step but I LOVE IT! I haven't experienced any problems. The last thing I have to do is upload music which I'm currently working on doing........... touch works smoothly, transferring between menu's is a breeze and a great camera and video option too. I learn something new about the phone everyday so the exicitement continues!

I had my doubts bout this phone but after havin it for a couple months, i love it. i had an iphone and HATED it. i guess everyone has there own opinion about phones tho. i absolutely love the 3.2 mp camera and video recorder. i'm not partial to any phone tho i've had MANY phones and all of them have had there pros and cons, so to say that this is "the phone of all phones" would b stupid cuz there will always be somethin that comes out better; although until then, this phone is awesome!!!!
