I was recently at a local mall and decided to browse a few stores to check out the latest smart phones.

Went to a Verizon Wireless store and tried the Motorola Droid. I was not impressed. Laggy interface and slow web browser. Mentioned this to the salesperson who commented that the mall did not get very good cell reception (the Droid only had 1-2 bars).

Then I took out my iphone 3gs to see what reception I was getting. Interestingly- five full bars!!

Showed this to the salesperson who had no comment but to slander AT&T's poor service. Funny- I have NEVER had a problem with service on with my iphone on AT&T. On the other hand, numerous persons who previously has Verizon (myself included) had frequent problem with poor service.

So- I would not recommend that anyone purchase the Motorola Droid despite all all the marketing hype-

Verizon is desperate to have a smart phone that actually works and is willing to bad mouth other providers to make itself look better. Look at the Verizon history of smart phones that they promoted as the best ever and were clearly junk- the LG Dare, Blackberry Storm, and now they think the Droid is the best thing out there. Motorola has not made anything worthwhile in many years- think they are going t change now?
