Samsung Galaxy S: How to Upgrade Firmware using Odin Flash Tool

This tutorial is to help Samsung Galaxy S (I9000) users to upgrade the firmware of the phone. The requirement of this guide is the Samsung Galaxy S must be unlocked.

  • 1Download and install Device drivers here.
  • 2 Download and install ODIN 3 version 1.0 here.
  • 3 Download Samsung firmware upgrade File (.tar) here.
  • 4 Open Odin on your computer, and “Run as Administrator”.
  • 5 Browse the .PIT file from extracted firmware upgrade.
  • 6 In PDA, browse the .TAR file.
  • 7 [Optional] if there is any file with CSC in it, browse and select it.
  • 8 Switch off Phone and remove SD Card (if any) and SIM.
  • 9 Connect with USB.
  • 10 Hold Volume down + Home Key + Power button till the phone boots in “Download mode”.
  • 11 Press Start button on Odin program window after it detects ID:COM
  • 12 Phone will reboot again.
  • 13 That's all. Your Samsung Galaxy S is flashed with the latest firmware.
