Samsung PIXON M8800 Front View

Samsung PIXON M8800 Ringtone, Accessories, Software, Review, Specifications, and Price

As Samsung’s second 8-megapixel digital camera phone (Samsung’s first 8-MP phone is Samsung INNOV8), the Samsung PIXON (a.k.a Samsung M8800), is a powerful multimedia phone that can play high-definition Movies in DivX and Xvid file formats, work as a GPS navigation system with its built-in GPS receiver, play MP3 music and output the music through its SRS (Surround Sound System) Virtual 5.1CH, and take high-quality pictures and videos with its built-in 8-megapixel digital camera / camcorder plus anti-shake, flash, and other features. Besides that, the phone also features a big 3.2-inch LCD touchscreen that supports intuitive navigation technology.

The major disappointment is the Samsung PIXON isn’t a smartphone / PDA, and it doesn’t have an array of PDA features, especially secured email solution, that BlackBerry offers. Besides that, the PIXON also lacks of Wi-Fi connectivity, which makes it less appealing to tech-savvy users.

Im not gona use techy language, no fps no mbs no speeds no stats..just a real personal review.

So ive been using my n95 8bg for over a year now and i kinda got bored of it..

I primarily use my phone as a multimedia source. Camera and music are really big things for me.

People make such a big deal about user interface and this and that ..thats all crap man..honestly you get used to ur user interface in a matter of minutes..so that is not a big deal at all (unless u were dropped when you were little) and the pixons user interface is really easy to use.

Texting and calling people..its just like the iphone..so u know its great.

Since video recording and taking fast pictures is really important to me, there was no other phone that appealed to me cept fo the n95 cause the video recording in the n95 is amazing for a phone..untill the pixon came out..

Its almost like a better faster cooler advanced sexier version of the iphone and n95 combined.

It takes the touch screen and feel of the iphone and puts a bad ass camera on board with a crap load of options and features. It Plays music really really loud..takes gorgeous pictures fast with so many cool camera features and modes and video recording is literally dvd-like with a flash lite that stays on so u can record in the dark (which is pretty decent in total darkness too!)

Ive spent over a month deciding between the samsung omnia, renior viewty and pixon.

Pixon won by a long shot.
This is why:

This phone in my opinion is the best thing out right now

- Touch screen is really responsive.
- Screen is massive and really clear.
- Looks really nice and feels expensive when you hold it.
- Looks 100% better than its immediate competitor (Renior)
- Camera is AMAZING. and decently fast.
- Camera has so many features and settings and modes.
- Video recording with flash lite on in total darkness.
- Battery is decent, cant complain.
- Video recording is really really really good.
- Slow motion video recording is really cool.
- Texting and typing on the phone is also very easy
- Internet browsing is fast also.
- Its samsung..and they usually get their stuff right.
- Memory card slot

There is not 1 thing this phone is bad at.

Everyone has their opinion about which phone is better..some like lg because its just lg..some like windows based phones..but if u just want a bad ass phone that does almost anything you want it to and does it well..get the pixon.
Trust me man..i have really really like almost died trying to figure out which one i wanted..and i went from review to review ..store to store trying to figure out what i wanted ..cause these things arent cheap and i reallly didnt wana get it wrong..so i tried each phone for a few days ..borrowing it from friends or someone i knew..

For right now atleast. i think the pixon is the best.

Thanks, that was a really good review, Miami. I've been torn between the Samsung Pixon and the Samsung Omnia and i was tempted to go with the Pixon, but still wasn't sure. You've now helped me make my mind up and it does seem like such a good phone. So i'm going with the Pixon. As it sounds like everything i need. :D

I was not sure about getting this phone and ummed and arred about the samsung pixon. did consider the sony ericsson c905 as well as the Blackberry Curve. I had a Sony Ericsson walkman phone before and loved it, and was therefore more inclined to get the sony. However, after reading numerous reviews ( about 100!) over 4 days I was swayed to get the Samsung and I have to say I am very pleased I did. The touch screen is fantastic and does as it is told. It took me a few days to get used to it but it also gives you the optin of a scroll key at the side which is fab. The screen is very large and clear and as for the camera, well I have to say I am amazed at the quality of the pictures, the speed at which you are able to take them and the amount of things you can do. It takes black and white, sepia etc. Has a fab macro face recognition are just a few.
I do have to say though that this phone is definately a GIRLS phone. The wallpapers are mainly flowery and the other bits and bobs that it gives you are also very feminine. (Including a widget that is a mirror using the front camera!) The only thing I was not so keen on was the fact that when you plug in the headphones the piece you have to remove sticks out and could be broken off if you catch it on something. Apart from that I LOVE this phone. Qwerty keybourd is perfect for my small fingers. My partners sausage ones struggle. The sound quality on a call is clear and apart from no wifi which i don`t care about it has evertyhing. I am no techno geek but as an everyday phone user that likes techy things this has ticked all my boxes

mandy let me tell you one thing, i have the samsung pixon, but before it, i had the sony ericsson C905. and honestly i miss that c905 phone for real. the camera is better in all aspects... first of all a real XENON FLASH that is very powerful, pixon= poor led flash. second, it's faster than the pixon when taking pics, when in camera mode, it a lot easier to use, don't have to unlock it everytime to use the camera, just slide down the cover and you're ready, even in the dark it's easy to use for there is a blue light that comes on in camera mode that helps you identify all the buttons, and looks really cool. the zoom is not good at all when comparing to the c905. the recording in the pixon is ok but the sound is just awful, real terrible, pixon has no wi-fi you know that, C905 does, the only good thing about the pixon is the camera size and no more. if you say the samsung is the best option just let it be clear that you are refering to it as teh best but only among the samsung phones.
And i'm saying all this because I've had the C905 and now the pixon. now Im waiting for the SATIO to get rid of the pixon. If anybody thinks i'm wrong, just tell me where and why!!!

ive got the last 2 sony best camera phones..i paid 900 e for both in 2 years and both of them dosn't work..about c 905, 98% of them they have problems..and more sony e phones have a lot of problems...personaly they send me three times new c905 from the Sony company and my last one is not working again...about pixon..pixon has bigger screen, touchscreen, better camere lens, not so good flus instead of c 905,better sound,no wi-fi but a lot faster internet connection than c905..much much better video than c905...but the best think is that: samsng phones work more than 3 months instead of sony er..

Now, many of us pixon users are stumped with how to install games on our mobiles. I personally used to keep getting an error when I transferred files via the Samsung PC studio.

Step1) Download and install TKFileExplorer.(Google it) Install the USB driver you got with your phone.

Step2) Open TKFileExplorer and go to Settings then choose COM. On port,
click the drop down menu and choose the only port that is visible (something like port 5/port 6).
NOTE* you must NOT be connected in pc studio program. Now click on FILE and CONNECT.

Step3) On the bottom half of TKFileExplorer, browse through these folders Exe/Java/Games.
Now that you are in games, create a new folder. Name it after what you are going to install
(e.g Sims 3). Now you will need to place the .jar & .jad files of the program you
will be installing. On the top half of TKFileExplorer, browse through to where you saved the application files (.jar/.jad) and select them both.
Now right click and choose ‘Download’. All done for this part.

Step4. Open up your dial pad and enter the following, *#6984125*#.
Choose INTERNALS and enter the following, *#9072641*#.
Now scroll down and choose Storage Settings. Then update Java DB, followed by update apps database.
Now you are finished. Go to Menu - Applications /Apps & Games. Your newly installed app should be visible!!!

Note: If you're wondering how to obtain the .JAD file of your game, download the JADmaker(google it Tongue)

Hi
Cheers Helifax. Took me a little while to get a pin in through the volume controls but I worked. Lifted about a mm and it's fine now. How long does this temp fix last and do you have to keep repeating the process every now and again?

hey , i had the same problems as all of you, i dropped my phone in some water so i did the usual and took the battery out and put it in the airing cuboard. when it dried out the touch screen didn't work so after hours of looking on the net with no joy i just got a screwdriver and took it apart to find down the edge of the phone near the volume controls there is a little strap that was connected to the screen but not the the phone chip board, the strap had a small g on it and some really tiny contacts on the tip of it. on the chipboard there is a tiny clamp which was light brown, all i did was pop the strap in the clamp and then pulled the the small hinged bit of the clamp down to hold the strap in tight then presto! it worked a treat, the touch screen worked. simples! was pretty easy to do, hope this works for you guys too

I have a pixon. i have had it for just under a year. Worst phone ever. After a while the battery cant even last half a day, the screen is about as responsive as a rock. It stopped vibrating. The amazing 8mp camera lens cover jams. It is as laggey as a 486pc and looses signal for no reason. But maybe this is the industry standard
