This phone is awesome. I love it. Im a mom of three and often drop my phone and this phone is tough enough for me. My husband is in the Coast Guard and drives boats. He has dropped his phone MULTIPLE times in the frigged waters and NEVER a problem. It can hold up to the coldest of temps. I simply love this phone! I take loads of pictures and videos and send them to family, they love them. The quality is great as well.

If your husband dropped it into frigid waters then how did he recover it? Because the Boulder doesn't float.

I have taken pics underwater and used it as a puck for street hockey. It has taken 20 foot falls onto concrete. It never failed! I beat up so bad when I stopped by verizon today they gave me a newer version. I like this one even more!!!!

An iphone wouldn't last guys like me an hour...

Totally lame, the "metal" (actually painted plastic) battery cover turn screw broke from a 2 foot drop out of my girlfriends car. Why not just use a real metal screw. Do it right or don't do it all.
The UI is terrible as well.

Aaron is right the new G'zOne Boulder phone is a piece. First of all, let me say that yes it is a waterproof phone. That's awesome. That being said it is not half as "rugged" as it claims to be. The metal screw that locks in the battery is actually plastic. On the old phones it was actual metal. So they do have metal screws they just chose not to put them on the new models. I dropped mine all of three feet and the screw snapped in half. Luckily I had just bought my phone within thirty days because verizon told me that the screw wasn't covered by warranty. If it had broken after thirty days, I'd be up the creek. Also with the G'zOne you have to buy a holster for it. You can't carry it in your back pocket like other phones because the front speaker apparatus presents an uncomfortable sitting posture. The flash on it also sucks. The flash is this bright LED that does pretty well as a small flashlight for seeing and such but it doesn't do anything at all for the camera. If you have poor light before you take the picture the LED won't serve to do much, except blind the person whose picture you are taking. Then there is the sound the phone makes when the battery is going dead. If the battery starts to go dead it starts doing this death beep. It's really loud and annoying and the only way to actually turn it off is to put the phone on vibrate. Compass is okay, but you have to calibrate it a lot. Otherwise if you get lost in the woods you'll find that the compass is giving you wrong directions. A word of advice, if you want a phone that looks tough and rugged then get a G'zOne Boulder. If you want a phone that is actually rugged get something else. This phone just doesn't cut it.

-1 votes I subscribe to the concept

I subscribe to the concept that my phone should withstand about the same abuse that a working man's watch would withstand. My phone is not a fashion statement, it is a tool. I need it to be with me and work when I need to communicate.

This G'zOne Boulder is that phone.

When you think you want this phone, you already know there are trade-offs. Like buying a Jeep Wrangler. No, it isn't a Mercedes and no it doesn't have 50 cup holders and built-in DVD screens for the 3 rows of back seats. But the vehicle gets you through a lot of tough situtations.

I expect my Boulder to take a number of hits when I lift and carry things. I expect it to work fine after working in a rainstorm. I expect it to work after I doff my fire gear after a fire.

I expect all that because this phone has survived those tests and more. The audio isn't as clear as a fine-tuned home theater showing a Blu-Ray. But I can still carry on a conversation without problem.

The petty problems people report in these online reviews? Think about it. If this phone isn't durable enough, what freaking phone is? You aren't going to go get a Blackberry because the Boulder isn't tough enough for you.

This phone is great!

Congratulations on your phone surviving thus far. You must have an exceptional model. I admit you might not need all the bells and whistles. But a phone should be able to drop more than three feet and not break. I've had four different phones with two different companies. All of them can survive a drop of more than three feet. As to the other features I reviewed them, that's what this site is for after all.
